You can move bodys! You need to be strong enough - if you are not, wear power armor, then you are strong enough to move bodies.
On PC you use the same key you use to loot bodies, but instead of hitting it, you hold it. On XBox it will probably be the button you use to loot. Go to the body (this works too with certain objects, but not all), until the menu to loot comes up. It does not matter if the menu (and the body) is empty or not. Hold the button you normally loot with, and it will not loot but 'fix' on the body - you should now be able to move it, lift it and carry it away. You can then stop holfing the button, the body (or the object) will hang on your hand, you can lift it and move it. I think this does not work with skeletons, bodies only and certain objects. Pressing the loot button again will let go and the body falls down.
Hope this helps...
I moved a body only to have it reappear in the same spot later.
So STR is a factor. I killed those mole-rats around Red Rocket and several were killed inside. I was clearing the place to redecorate and one of the larger rats wouldn't move. My STR is 5 though. I would have sworn that would have been enough to drag it away.
How long till the bodies clear on their own?
No idea, I think some bodies stay indefinitely - there is no official information about this. Maybe they change it - raiders who attack your settlements will not disappear too. Maybe they will after a long time, but better to remove them from the settlement grounds.
And yes - my character has STR 3, he cannot move anything without PA
STR was a factor too in Fallout 3, where you could move bodies too.
I haven't tried it in 4 yet, but in FO3 and FNV you could use the console command "disable" to make bodies (and lots of other things, so be careful) disappear.
If I remember correctly, open console with ~ key, point at dead body, select with press of the left mouse button, then type "disable" and enter.
If that doesn't work in FO4, then sorry. I can't test it at the moment.
Yeah I've thought about using that, but I'll just wait and see for now.
If that Damn Dog keeps opening all my garage doors right after I close them I'm going to "Disable" him.
There's that one [censored] body on the opposite end of the bridge to Sanctuary Hills that moves back if you move him. Of course it was the start of the game so I stripped him of his clothing thinking I could move him out of the way. Had to disable him with the console after 5 tries.
Same here.
The funny thing is that the dead dog lying next to him is too heavy to carry for my character (STR 5), but not the guy.
