Settlements: Most scenicbuildable location?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 11:46 pm

So ive been searching for a place to build my home. I intend, like most people, to make a tower containing my loot, power armour and companions.
But it'd be nice to have a nice view to look out on.. Any suggestions?

I haven't been there, but Spectacle Island is one I keep hearing about. Pretty much an empty island with a nice view, its supposedly quite down south though.

I thought the Starlight Drive-in looked like a good spot. It's big and open so you could build a tower there. Or something up against the screen. So far my main base is Sanctuary Hills with the Castle being a secondary spot. After I finish the main quest I want to build a comprehensive settlement at the Starlight Drive-in.

Ive been to it, its.. Alright. And theres a boat with an active generator (if you can figure out how to get it going( that provides 20 energy. Mind you, you have to clear the island of mirelurks and turning on the power brings a mirelurk queen

Its great for a settler settlement (setup a few with scav posts and enporiums and youre set) but i was thinking you dont really need that for a home base - you just need a modest size of land in a nice place

Sommerville Place is quite nice, it lets you build over a huge area.

Nordhagen beach is also quite good for building since it gives you a big area with little obstruction, specially if you build on the beach!

Greygarden! The elevated highways offer good building possibilities, a good view and you have funny farmers right next to you.

So it's possible to build up on the highway? That's good news! :)

For me I was looking for something similar to Sanctuary : I tried to restore my previous home a bit, but it's quite a mess lol.

Wanted to know if there was anything close to the home given by Mr House or Benny in New Vegas. I want to be classy man.

So far Sanctuary is the best if you try to fix the houses, it's quite cool. Kinda sad we can make only beggars' homes tho, only wood or half broken metal pieces. No stone/brick or anything that could be unlocked by joining a faction.

I tried with the Croup Mansion, but it's quite bugged (dead ghouls still there, companion AI can't go upstairs without a custom stair added, companion talks like there is an ennemy around etc) and it's too near raiders/super mutants spots. So it's often under attack even with walls, the settlers go out there just to die in the woods lol.

Thw area I like best is along the railway south of Oberland Station. It's where the railroad passes over a lowered road, there's a building there already that has stairs going down to the street below. Once we get the GECK, first thing I'm doing is making that into a settlement area!

There are two beach settlements which are the most scenic. The problem is they are hard to defend and settlers wander off.

That's why I chose hangman's alley; it is a city settlement and the views are dumpster fire but it is safe and solid and enemies don't spawn within the walls like most settlements.

True. Im just looking for me and my companions - no settlers in this place

I think its cause with the likes of sanctary bethesda never intended for masses of land to be walled off by players..

I find the .....Marina pretty cool, have not started to build yet, but it's among my top choises to put effort in next. Not sure yet how dangerous the surroundings are tho.

For people who like symmetry, want small, easy to control and clean place, I recommend airport. Requires very little building to make it secure, place is a small size rectangle covered fully with cement and if you build tower it has nice view of entire map. This is my choice for main base.
