Mentats and hacking

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 7:14 am

Hi.

I have INT Level 7 and have the 2nd Hack Perk (Expert). Is it possible to Hack Master Terminals with drugs and/or special clothing?

I tried Mentats. But so far it didn't do anything.

Thanks.

It's definitely purely based on the perk. To be honest, I don't find much point in buffing intelligence anymore, it just allows you to collect more XP when completing missions.

The only point I can see in buffing intelligence is to collect additional XPs after completing each mission, and in that case it would probably make a bit of sense.

I rather disklike this new approach. Previously, it made chems like Mentats much more useful. Many times I had to rely on a brief buff to get something done that my normal skills wouldn't allow. After all, that what's drugs are for, kids.

I believe that using Mentats or INT boost before hacking a terminal helps by reducing the number of words and increasing dud removal strings.

This is the only use of Mentats that I can think of with the new system. Other than XP gain, is there any benefit to buffing INT?

I'm not certain about regular mentats but the orange mentats give a 10% boost to vendor buy/sell prices, and I think the graqe mentats increase your sneak damage.

There are also a few articles of clothing that boost intelligence. I've been wondering if at some point they will have a function.

So far I've still been carrying a couple mentats everywhere I go out of old Fallout habits. But the risk of an addiction penalty and cost to remove it, outweighs any minor benefit to hacking.

I can't really see what it does under the hood. I looked at my guide and it pretty much just confirms what we already do know (more exp).
