Hacking robots in Fallout 4. Do you need to sneak? : Fallout 4

Do you have to sneak up on them like in the other games? I am asking cause I am playing a High INT power armor user (Nuclear Physassist) obviously I have no sneak at all so grabbing the perk would be useless.
