Caps, Caps, and more Caps.

Seen a lot of comments on the way Fallout 3 differs from Fallout 4 when it comes to collecting caps.

The old system was based off of, Exploring new places, filling up on gear returning to a random shop and selling all for caps ( minus what was needed for repairs )

I found this to be real repetitive and also it took away a lot of the time I could be gaining EXP.

The new systems starts off the same by exploring and filling up on gear but the gear itself is wroth almost nothing.

But here is the beauty in the new system everything can be used to create more useful and valuable items.

For example, Jet is wroth 50 caps weighs almost nothing and is crafted using 2 of the most commonly found items in the game, and as a bonus, crafting the item nets 3 EXP per jet.

There are so many different items to Craft I cant mention them all just explore the chem table and find what works best for you.

Dont sell adhesive!!!

its easy to farm but not wroth the caps compared to how often you will use it.

All true, but the endless scrounging for junk is also quite repetitive and slows the game down as you need to unload it into your workshop. Dump it at a trader. dump it at a workshop, no real difference, IMO.

yup. the use for caps has diminished greatly but the need to obsessively collect junk is all the same. I still look for a minimum ratio of 10 caps per pound but not also obsess over anything with adhesive or oil components.

there is cuz you dont just dump off at a workbench you create

i have personally moved up in level more from crafting new items then killing things. LVL 42 BTW.

I now pick up EVERY thing and in Fallout 3 so much time was spent deciding what weighed more compared to its value and we had to decide it we needed that random 10mm to repair.

But we are making this a different topic now lol,

the point is crafting then selling is how to make the real caps in fallout 4 and in 3 you could make more caps form just selling and I seen a lot of new players not understanding this.there is a tier system with the gear this time dont sell tier one items, you wont make any caps and your giving up free exp.

That's a fair point. The addition of crafting exp is a plus, if not a borrowed (stolen) idea from user made mods.

I do that to barter for stuff I want from traders without spending a whole lotta my own caps...except I usually just grab (of course) ammo, then the weapons of the dead, and sell them the way I found them...
I have a question tho that I could test myself, but maybe you know...
So I usually load up on crap to barter with when I head to a trader, like diamond city...if I come up short then I pay a few caps to cover...
Now I'm fairly certain that if I really wanted them caps back I could fast travel home, load up, and head back....but I was wondering if I took too long getting back, and the trader had restocked, do they restock their caps as well? Basically if the trader starts at 300 caps and I end having to spend a 1000 of my own, so now he has 1300...after he restocks will he still have 1300 or back to 300?

no vendors wont keep all of your caps but I dont know the change rate,

but the shops at your settlements from experience do.

One problem is balance. All you have to do to get unlimited caps is build a few stalls in your settlements and then farm purified water which is extremely easy. I really wish they has some sort of market mechanism where the more you sold of something the less people would pay because it would simulate reduced scarcity.

ya the water is with out a doubt the best farm but it actually is in short supply,

sanctuary has the river that you can easily get over a 1000 water a day from and The castle has a good amount of water but besides those two you wont be collecting more then 200 - 300 a day a piece.
