Same goes for mirelurks. I almost always aim for those buggers legs first.

Otherwise it's "snicker-snack", and I rather like my limbs where they are.

Also, combat shotty with a nice fat drum of ammo ends ghouls toot-sweet.

When I know I am entering ghoul infested buildings I pop some Rad-X , equip my Highly Modified Semi Auto Assault Shotgun (105 DMG with perks), and have the Wounding Shishkebab when I wanna go hacking and slashing (20% extra damage on ghouls).

This is accurate. Also, try and find the "sleeping" ones either with VATS or your scope. Usually a shot when they're laying down will be the end of them.

Run backwards while throwing mines in front of you.

I've got a sniper that does over 100 damage with sneak bonuses making it almost triple sneak damage and that Assassin robot still tore me a new hole.

Early in the game I named a Sawn-Off double-barrelled shotgun of mine 'Ghoulsbane', always carried it with me. Trust me wait until they're close and boom, headshot the filth. Messy but effective. Other than that use a .38 or .45 pipe gun from a distance whilst Dogmeat grapples with them. Dogmeat makes for a great mini-tank.

I haven't ran into any robots yet. But that robot sounds hard as heck.

Okay so I'll swap out Codsworth for Dogmeat then. I saw in a trailer he was taking down a feral ghoul. But for now I'll reload an earlier save from right before I left Sanctuary. I need to level up more and upgrade my trusty pistol since it has the most ammo aside from the minigun.

Since they move fast you have to shoot out their legs first. But before you do that, sneak as close as possible and plant some mines. That will take out a good number of them as they start rushing toward you.

Going for the legs works best for me. I usually use a glow sighted combat rifle, and usually one or 2 shots to the leg will rip it off almost any ghoul besides a Glowing One. From there you can take your time, or if you have a companion they will usually mop up whats left laying on the ground.

I ran into a legendary glowing one yesterday, and Codsworth and I managed to take off all 4 limbs without killing it. It was just a head and torso laying there looking around, with about 30% health left. B)

I snipe what I can then switch to a high damage melee Weapon, currently a bladed tire Iron. Dogmeat grabs them and I whack, hack and stack 'em.

There are certain indoor location that have some bad ass ghouls, look for signs of flammable material on the floor (Like some other Bethesda Games) and use that to toast them.

Narrow door ways and corridors coupled with a minigun (or other no explosive Heavy Weapon) also works just remember to reload in between fights
