Grand Theft Fallout?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 8:56 pm

So in Fallout 3, your primary gun would be equipped to your body. In Fallout 4 all guns appear out of thin air when selected ala GTA.

What happened? - and its kind of a bummer. I'm enjoying the game overall, despite the "jank" here and there. I hope a future patch will solve much of the criticism towards this otherwise fun experience.

Fallout 3 the holstered weapon would often float inside your body/armour or float a few inches away from it. With the wide range of armours and ability to add components to them it seems guaranteed for issues to happen so they've skipped it. Plus I think most people play first person so it's not often seen.

Ya like what someone else said there is a lot of armor/clothes cominations.
in skyrim when wearing regular clothes the bow would hang in the air and it bothered the crap out of me

I walk around with my gun out anyways. Plus it's better then them floating around you.

That's a detail. Bethesda can't into details.

This was bothersome to me too, but when I thought about Skyrim and Fallout 3/NV...

then it made me feel better about not seeing the weapon all the time. Would be cool to sling the rifle over your back, but for now with all the variations to the weapons and weapon mods, it works better this way. Maybe in a future update.

Most of them probably stuck through power armor like some hats do so they had them dissapear instead.

I like it this way. It always irked me seeing my weapons float right beside my body.

probably because they wanted to reduce clipping issues with all the different types of armor over lays. first you got your base cloths, then your armor piece attachments and their mods, then you can put power armor over that. that is a lot of layers. imagine them trying to maintain several different holstering animations for all of those combined situations, it was probably very labor intensive to make it work consistantly. I bet after a certain amount of time of failure they had to cut their losses and assume that such a minor detail would only be slightly missed.

Bethesda is all about details. They carefully place every scrap of garbage, pencil, place settings on tables in break rooms. Fallout is all about details. They ditched the holster thing because it looks dumb. It either clips into the character or the weapon floats a couple of inches away from the character. You're also carrying hundreds of pounds of desk fans, cups, wire, bones and circuit boards and crap. Maybe you should be pushing around a shopping cart like Cormack McCarthy's "The Road," too....

"Jank" as I have come to understand, is a slang term for when a games flow or feel is otherwise compromised do to technical problems; not necissacaily a bug.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Not all guns in Fallout 3 were placed upon the character (?). I mainly bring this up because I enjoyed the animation associated with drawing certain weapons, It became a "cool" thing. And no, I have not seen a gauss, I'm level 8 currently.
