What the hell was that? (fallout 2)

Post » Sun Jun 06, 2010 6:09 am

Hi, so I was playing fo2 and was on my way to an army base north of new reno when I had this encounter. There was this bridge and a monk standing next to it. My character said that I should save my game in different slot. I talked to monk and he asked me some weird questions like what npc from fo1 appears in fo2. When I answered the questions the monk just left. Was it an easter egg? Will it have any effect on the story? Why did my char said I should save in different slot? Thanks.

Edit: I just tried to kill the monk and he sommond the brahmin that exploded and killed me :o

It's a Monty Python easter egg. See:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Bridge_Keeper

If you had answered with a question to the third question, the Bridge Keeper would have exploded, and you'd have gotten his robe, which has stats like a Combat Armor, but is much lighter.

Heh, there are a few 'wierd' easter egg special random encounters in FO2, and FO for that matter.

That's an odd twist of it... Fallout 1 & 2 are known for it. They are what the games are like.

BTW... if you're early in the game... the Bridgekeeper's robes are pretty good armor.

It's just that I never played any fallout game before and I am trying to finish it w/o using any walkthroughs and guides so that was really unexpected :D

It's better if you see the whole movie because the answer king arthur gives to the third question is a reference to the opening scene.

I personally thought Fallout 2 went way overboard with the Easter Eggs but this one was brilliant.
