Ideas for a Fallout based fan "film".

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:39 am

Hi. This thread is a sequel to http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=913929 thread.

So i am considering to make a Fallout based fanmovie. It will be in "episodes" that last about 10-30 minutes or so.

Im now asking you, the true knowers of the fallout universe to help me with the main idea, i have only scratched the surface of the Fallout universe by playing Fallout 2, 3 and Tactics.

Please keep the ideas reasonable, not like "DUDE! YOU SHOULD MAKE THEM FIGHT A BEHEMOTH!" Remember, it's a fan movie with almost none budget.

This will be a serious movie, not a parody. I have figured that the story will take place in Finland. The country in Northern-Europe. Finland is trashed by atomic bombs so there will be somesort of mutations and radiation. Who dropped the bombs? I don't know, you could give me some ideas about that. The story will be taking place between the happenings of Fallout 2 and Fallout 3 (2241-2277). The main character will be a Raider/Scavenger of some sort, and since it's winter now, and Finland is full of snow, the first episodes should take place in the winter. Later on if the this project will get started and gets a good reception from the internet, there could be more episodes taking place in spring, summer and autumn. And i am an airsofter, so the arsenal and military gear should not be a problem. I am also pretty good at special effects and video editing so that makes up the editing. No problems there.

Main ideas that i need help with are: The influence of the superpowers (Russia, China, the EC and USA). What kind of mutants, weapons and technology there should there be in Finland? What caused to get Finland bombed? If you got some good ideas for the movie, post them here. Let your ideas lush and remember, keep them reasonable.

I truly hope that i can sum up a good backstory for the movie, and i can get some friends to help me.

Oh. And here is Finland on the map and where will be the movie taking place (the red circle). The actual place is in Pohjois-Savo (Northern-Savo), a province in middle Finland.

Wouldn't the Soviet Union be an obvious choice?

What kind of mutants, weapons and technology there should there be in Finland?

As for mutants, ghouls yes, but no super mutants. Obviously giant versions of animals.

Any ideas why the Soviet Union dropped the bombs? Just went in frenzy and started dropping bombs into old enemies?

And a catchy subtitle would also be needed. Like "Fallout - Northern Apocalypse". Give me your ideas.

Well, they could have simply invaded it after the dissolution of the EC and fought a conventional war.

Would do if it would be a parody.

I came up with a intro for the movie. Still a work in process.
-------------------------------
War. War Never changes.

*Yes, the start is a copy from Fallout 2*

The end of the world occured pretty mushc as we had predicted.

Too many humans, not enough space or resources to go around.

The deatails are trivial and pointless, the reasons, as always, purely human ones.

The Earth was nearly wiped clean of life. A great cleansing, an atomic spark struck by human hands, quickly raged out of control.

Spears of nuclear fire rained from the skies.

Continents were swallowed in flames and fell beneath the boiling oceans.

Humanity was almost extinguished, their spirits becoming part of the background radiation that blanketed the Earth.

*Copying ends*

There were 4 superpowers in the start of the 21st century. The United States of America, the Soviet Union, the Peoples Rebublic of China and the European Commonwealth

In 2052 The European Commonwealth was dependent on oil exports from the Middle East, and responded to rising oil prices with a military action, starting the Resource Wars.

Whilst at war. The great oil fields in the Middle East went dry. The European Commonwealth and the Middle-East dissolved into nation states fighting for the remaining resources.

At the beginning of the 2070's China was plotting to start a nuclear war with the United States of America.

Just before the war. China started threathing the Soviet Union to attack the remains of the European Commonwealth and The Middle-East.

In 2077. This war started.

The Earth would never be same again.

A small northern country of Finland had left the chaotic European Commonwealth. A new, sturdy goverment was made in Finland, and the wars there stopped, just when the Great War started.

The Soviet Union started bombing every major city in the European Commonwealth and Finland. The Finnish cities of Helsinki, Turku, Tampere, Oulu and Kuopio were the targets of atomic bombs.

A quiet darkness fell across the planet, lasting many years.

Decades of silence passed. Then the remaining population of the world started to come out from their shelters.

Near the nuclear devasted city of Kuopio. In the remains of a small town of Tervo. A small group of people had formed a village.

In the year 2251 this village would give birth to a baby boy. This boy would have the destiny of the Finnish Wasteland in his hands.

All of the countries of the European Union came together to forge a new, mighty superpower. The European Commonwealth.

There was never a European Union in Fallout. European Commonwealth is simply its equivalent in Fallout's divergent storyline.

I'm pretty sure China was a superpower even early on - they had their own space program even in the 20th century of Fallout's alternate timeline.

LOL Finland trashed by Bombs?? More likely they were trashed by the resulting fallout from the war, not the bombs themselves.. Finland itself has no real strategic value in a Fallout Universe, it is so far removed from the conflict between China and the United States that I doubt either would waste nukes on Finland. Now I could see Russia annexing Finland for it's natural resources during the resource wars that led up to the great war, that could be a story line.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Finland would look like in a fallout universe, but saying they were hit by lots of bombs is obsurd.

Maybe they were first annexed by the Soviet Union, and then that part of *Soviet Union* was nuked by the Russians' enemies?

Hmm. The whole annexing thing sounds pretty good. It even makes sence.

Why not have a series of films, with the Brotherhood of Steel vs. the week's featured creature; have it as a wild army vs. monsters shoot-em-up?!

Not necessarily. Use photoshop and like technologies for the tank and fighter jets attack scenes; use special effects CGI to the ubermax for the whole flick and have good dialogue and plot. Think the 1950's monster movies(.'Beginning of the End'; 'Godzilla')style stuff.

For example, .'Giant Raccoon Plague';
Radiation unleashes an epidemic of 20 feet tall, lightning breathing Raccoons; Have them nuke a few people and then the guys with the M14s and the Tanks roll in to save the day.

Finland, eh?

Well, about the backstory, it depends on how much you wish to deviate/break canon.

So, why would a /neutral?/ country far north, still struggling to recover from the EC vs Middle East war, be nuked to rubble, city by city, area by area?
/First you need to decide which side nuked you, though/.

If you feel like scrapping canon, suppose that the statement that the last oil reserve was depleted is false. Instead, there was another one, frozen deep beneath finnish soil, truly vast and impossible to access, whose existance was known only by a handful of people on the nukers side. And they simply decided to make it reachable by melting the very thick ice covering it by nuking the area, and to cover that up by wiping out the entire country as well, thus protecting the field by making it surrounded by high doses of radiation for hundreds of kilometers around it. Planning to march in when the rad subsided.

It's pretty much in the spirit of the Vault experiment /cruel, dark and evil, and the purpose is... well, not so grand/, and very 50-ish - there were some ideas back then to build harbors, canols etc. by "nuclear engineering/excavation"

Another thing would be if someone KNEW about the Enclave /or whatever the group was called back then/'s plans /whistleblower?/, was unable to help so fled to a relative safety in a country out of harms way, probably infiltrating the finnish government and making them ALSO build vaults, but with the idea of actually protecting the residents, not small vaults, but large deep buried cities of collosal scale, in effect almost half /?/ the country went underground. Thus, the nuker /in this case, probably the US/ decided that if the fins were allowed to survive in great numbers unscaved and with tech and knowledge preserved... so they nuked the place, hoping to starve out the people living in the cities by making it imposible for them to get out for centuries /suppose fin tech is not as advanced as US to keep a vault up and running for more than a decade?/

Cheers.

ive got an idea, it may be stupid, unorganized, and not thought out well, but here it is.

The intro of the Fallout movie is highly action packed with a special ops team infiltrating Wes Tek Facility, because knowledge of the FEV virus is known to have dangerous and fatal effects on the human race. They are there to destroy the FEV from being positively charged for any use. They must destroy the virus since they know the causes of radiation exposed to FEV onto living organisms; fatality or mutation.
Almost nearing their victory to destroying the virus and unexpected interference occurs. Another squad under the organization called the Enclave arrives in search for the FEV to preserve it and carry back samples for more research.

For some temporary unknown reason of luck, he is able to slow down time and use psionics to defeat the soldiers. While he is fighting his way threw the Enclave and exits the facility were Vertibirds and hovercrafts are surrounding him, he is forced to surrender. He then is rescued by extraterrestrials who are seeking shelter on the planet and they exterminate the Enclave. Most of the Vaults those go under experimentation for the Enclave. He gains this knowledge after communicating with the alien race. After what feels like a endless and tireless war against the U.S.Forces the Enclave and the rest of the world, the nukes drop and the fighting continues on while suites are cracking like molten rock and the planet is reduced to cinders and mutated.

Mr. Moreau is then taken to and underground city in the shape of an inward sphere and a sun floating in the center. He is blessed with temporary immortality and is taught thier ways of spiritual healing. He is told by the alien race to restore peace and unity back into the world just as many prophets before told him to rejoin him. This man returns to the wastelands and is accepted into a Vault 8, (Vault City.) He finds and meets his lover in this Vault and this is were Richard Moreau is born and eventually is exiled and becomes the Master.

Really, I think the Aliens and the Enclave should really put a huge role in the plot, philosophy, and storytelling of the entire Fallout universe.

I dont know what i just said but i like it.
