from time to time i come across and if i activate it then it boosted some signal or something. but almost all of those boosted radio are close to nothing. i can't pick up any single words out of it and making it feel quite pointless

is there something i am missing here?

Some of those are homing beacons.

Try finding their center.

They get louder the closer you get to the signal, i only managed to get so far until i accidentally wandered into a Deathclaw without noticing.
