Struggling to find quests of interest beyond the MQ.

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:04 am

So I finished the MQ for The Institute. I did much of the RR's quests before turning on them, and purposefully avoided the BOS because I wasn't playing that sort of character. I've since been roaming around the wasteland trying to find anything even slightly interesting to do but boy has it been slim pickins. I've come across the Atom Cats, Longneck Lukowski's, and Vault 81 so far. And while those all had bits of interest, I felt like so much more could have been done with them. So what I ask is this:

Am I basically "done" here? Is there anything else even slightly interesting like those three examples? Is there anything more developed and interesting? Or is it just window dressing on an empty room for the rest of the map? EDIT: I suppose I should say I've done all the side-quests in areas like Diamond City and Goodneighbor, i.e. places that other quests have led me.

Don't worry about spoilers and pin-pointing locations for me, since I'm at a point where it's either that or turnin' the thing off. Just please be courteous and use yer spoiler tags.

*puts on hammy 1930 radio drama voice* The silver shroud can not stand the foul villany of his quest not being mentioned!

How about the Silver Shourd quest line?

But yeah, theres fewer interesting quests and characters than previous games (at least on my experience).

You ought to get this moved to the spoilers section, or mark some main quest spoilers yourself sir. Not as egregious as some other things I've seen posted, though.

Anywho, you've barely scratched the surface. Try going to Covenant. Or Bunker Hill. Or Salem. Or Quincy. Or spending more time in Goodneighbor and Diamond City. Finding the rest of the companions. Or just wandering around as you have been.

And of course, try going through the story differently with a new character.

USS Constitution is very interesting and quite long. 5-6 parts. A few things going on in Goodneighbor. Companion quests.

I'm a collector. Have you found all uniques and bobble heads? Also, I find a lot of substance in terminal readings and scattered notes. Hope it helps.

Yep, done the Shroud quests. Those were decent, again...wish it was developed more because it ended before I expected it to. :/

Spoilers section just for naming of areas? If you say so. Anyway, I've been to the majority of those places. Definitely wrung the townships for all they're worth. Don't think there are any companions left to be had, but I could be wrong. Again though: Please don't worry about spoiling things for ME. I'm looking for literal "go to this location on the map, it's right there" type of answers!

-The USS Constitution quest is fun, especially that ending.

-There is the House Cabot questline with some Lovecraft overtones.

-The Big Dig sidequest has you burrowing underground to try to rob the mayor of Diamond city... only to have a twist at the end.

-The Confidence Man quest in Diamond City involves getting the radio DJ to be a better person by stanging bar fights, hooking him up with a girlfriend, and saving a guy from some raiders.

-The Silver Shroud questline is just funny, especially if you "speak as the shroud" the whole way through.

-The Covenant quest involves doing some detective work to find a missing caravan, only to discover some horrible experiments going on.

Again, pretty sure I've squeezed Goodneighbor dry. Don't think I've done the other though, thanks!

Crossed out the ones I've done already. I had a thought like "I wish there was some way to list everything I've already done" while making this thread but c'est la vie I guess. Thank you though!

I thought of taking a screen shot. But then I took another sip of coffee instead. That probably would have been helpful though, eh?

LOL! Is this the "Ok, I tried [censored]-face" resignation post? That is helpful, thank you. I could have easily gleaned that from the wiki too I suppose. Guess I was hoping for recommendations for SQ's off the beaten path. Places that you wouldn't necessarily end up in while doing the MQ or the closely-orbiting SQs you find in the meantime.

I would try to find a save from before beginning the end, and do the BoS quests..
Other than that looks like you've done quite a bit..more than me anyways..I got some good tips for myself to keep going..:)

No, it was the "its easier to just give you the list of every quest in the game, so you can see for yourself what you have done or not, then it is to try to guess every quest you have done/not done" post.

You kind of intentionally shut your character off to a massive branch of side content, by avoiding the Brotherhood completely.

I really recommend checking out Covenant. Nothing mind blowing and it's not very long but my favorite quest so far with a slight nod to NV. It's just east of Lexington across the pond.

Ha, same difference. ;)

Yeah, figured as much. Saving that for another go at some other time. Playing a selfish male character now, going to do a selfless female character with Strong as companion next.

Right on. That'll be next on my list. About to finish the USS Constitution quest. <-- This was really the sort of thing I was looking for. Cheers.
