Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening & DA2

Post » Mon Jun 07, 2010 1:40 am

I wanted to clear something up. DAO doesn't have an isometric view. In fact, the view is just the camera of the regular 3rd person view being pulled back and up (it's a camera angle change- you can do it with FO3 if you want). In all honesty, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to provide the far back view since you actually need lower res textures for that than for the 3rd person up close view, so all this talk about it being too expensive is just BS and I don't really know why the "second news" didn't call it BS.

Honestly, I wouldn't even mind the camera being closer up if it was scrollable further away from the characters. That mechanic combined with the camera being closer up, though, would be incredibly annoying.

@Antibody- I'm not typing the xXXx stuff, sorry. =/ Why don't you like any overhead view? The basically prevents you from liking some of best games ever made (and I'm not just talking about RPGs).

Edit: Guys, Bioware had problems before EA. If you want to plug your ears and go all "lalalalala" about them, that's up to you.

Not to derail this thread but I am pretty mad at Bioware! My items in Dragon age keep disappearing and the game will not load. It keeps saying content not authorized!

P.S. I tried their fixes and nothing helps!

I was thinking every DLC so far, Awakening, and something extra. For the normal price though, that would be too good to be true. I just want someway to buy the DLC, because the Social Site won't accept a Visa gift card.

Now would be an amazing time to release a physical copy for the Mac. Poor Mac users, always getting under served. I hoped that the release of steam would spark interest but not yet :(.

Hardly. It's not unusual for a company to sell the original game plus all the expansions together for the normal price of a game a year after the initial release. Bethesda did it with Fallout 3.

Believe me, if I could get rid of those xX's, I would. And I don't know why I don't like it, I just don't. It svcks because I miss a lot of RTS' and the majority of RPGs, but I just cannot stand the camera angle. I've tried forcing myself to play them but that never really works out.

Yeah but the GOTY edition of Fallout 3, on the PC at least, gave you all 5 DLCs for $50, and you were essentially getting the actual game for free. That's not to say each DLC was worth the $10 it cost, but it was still a really good deal. Likewise, the main game of Dragon Age Origins, which still costs around $20, Awakening, which still costs around $25, and the rest of the DLC, all put on one disc for $50 would be a great deal as well.

Can anyone help me decide my character's first specialisation?
I can't decide between Assassin or Duelist. I know I can just choose the other one at level 14. So, which one would be better for level 7?

Assassin. Both specialization's talents have somewhat high level requirements, but I regard Duelist as useless overall.

I went Assassin/Duelist on my first character and I have to say that the Assassin skills are better overall. Duelist does have more straight up attack skills (at the cost of fatigue), so if you want those go for Duelist. Personally, I picked assassin and just used medium armor so that my fatigue isn't "wasted".

Assassin is generally better. Mark of Death which is the very first talent that you can pick as early as level 7 is something that the whole party can benefit from for the majority of the game.

Well, just finished Golems of Amgarrak. It was pretty good and quite difficult, although very short (finished it in an hour), so I'm not sure it was worth the $7. There were also a few plot points that were completely unexplained that I'll discuss later when more people have played it.

I will say one thing though, I'm getting a little tired of Bioware just re-using locations from Origins/Awakening for their DLC. Every location from Leliana's Song was just rehashed from Origins or Awakening, and likewise, Amgarrak is largely just Kal-Hirol with a new coat of paint.

I thought it was a total waste of money. Too short, boring and lacked anything that made it worth the money.

The quanari looked cool, and the premise, giving us the story from a story telling point of view, is a nice idea, we will see how well they do it. I still don't like that I can only be the human. I did like his weapon though, it will make for some cool visuals.

Who else is presenting at this gamescom

I think that was the first time a main character was a mage rather than a sword-swinging whatever. Nice for a change. And we get to romance a pirate lass! Yarr!

The main site has been updated and now includes the trailer - http://dragonage.bioware.com/da2/

I am happy with the trailer, didn't expect gameplay footage, but there's plenty of time for that when they refine it. Kate Mulgrew made the trailer for me, great narration. Also seems like Hawke uses some very powerful blood magic. I like the Qunari a lot. I wonder who that woman at the docks was.

I am also very excited that ME2 is indeed coming to PS3, when I get the console I'll definitely buy it.

Sony's press conference should start at 6pm CET (in 40 minutes):
Watch for GT5, inFamous 2, MotorStorm: Apocalypse, some nice entertainment peripheral stuff and at least one big software announcement. SCEE president Andrew House will be in action, and there’ll be plenty more here.
Move will be in full effect. Sony loves the big German show, choosing it to announce Slim and a price cut last year, so keep one eye open for a megaton. As that bloke in Predator 2 said, “[censored] ‘appens.” We’ll have two people in this one.
