Does Fallout need a mount?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 5:56 am

I wouldn't mind some jeep or mount.

I'm playing a stealth char on survival. That means doing the fun stuff happens at night.

I rly don't like that i always have to somewhat guess how much time the fasttraveling will eat up to still arrive at nightfall.

Some vessel or mount would be nice to get rid of fasttraveling and reaching some points of interests quicker.

If u choose this option over fasttravel, u're not actually faster, it takes even longer to travel.

Some of those mutant hounds look big enough to put a saddle on.

A mount would be really cool and I think even fun for a Fallout game.

I do get that Lore Wise horses are supposed to be extinct. As far as a vehicle goes the issue in the game is well the terrain is at times just way too rugged for a car and perhaps dangerous to traverse with a cycle at best at any sort of decent traveling speed.

"Have you seen the size of the pot holes Post Apocalypse?" Someone needs to get those Mr. Handies out there filling in those holes in the ground. I'd rather ride a mount than a vehicle in pretty much everywhere in Fallout 4, it'd be too much trying to get around in motorized transport reliably.

You were able to fix a car and drive it around in fallout. If anyone remembers. I laughed so hard when the goul climbed out from under the front and became you friend.

The thing is, the landscape is dense. You're never out of eyesight of another point of interest. I think mounts (especially ones that increase speed) would make the world feel WAY smaller.

Would love a pack Brahmin though!

I wont be mad if they put a car into the game but with Fallout 4 I just don't see a vehicle being something that would work with how dense it is and how rugged most of the terrain is. Heck the real problem with riding a mount in the world of Fallout would be if said animal was trained not to panic...Gunfire, a sudden molerat attack, and well pretty much everything would just spook the heck outta a horse so bad you'd fall right out of the saddle.

I've gotten stuck in the environment a ton of times on foot....can't imagine the trouble I'd get in on a mount...

The map in Fallout 4 is far to dense for mounts.

The only "mount" I'll accept is a giant baby carrier strapped to Strong that we ride in.

I agree that the map of 4 is too small for mounts. But if we go back to the desert (NV2), it would be ok. And the motorcycles spread all over 4 looks awesome. Perhaps we'll see it in a couple of years.

I think it would make the world feel smaller because it is so dense. Its already quick and easy to get around if you don't get distracted and stay focused on the mission, which is impossible of course lol.

I'd consider sprinting in power armor to be "mounted transportation"

I wish those armored cars could be driven. They probably handle well on rough terrain, and it's speculated that they're amphibious. Plus they've got got some handy turrets for dealing with pests.

Not everyone uses Power Armor and not everyone wants to join BoS for the Vertibird.

I wouldn't mind seeing a mount. Maybe a motorcycle or car of some sort.

Everything is already crammed together. You have no idea what map markers have been explored because every time you turn around you've discovered 3 new areas while just trying to run back to base to drop all your crap off. You clear areas that have known loot there even though you picked nothing up.

I'm pretty disappointed. Finding unique weapons no longer feels like an accomplishment. Every building seems the same, the map feels small, the metro system is a fraction of what it was in FO3 plus many more reasons. Don't make it worse by adding mounts or vehicles of any kind

You can get them from the minutemen or from the railroad if BOS is unavailable.

I've always found it interesting how BOS can get a big-ass airship to fly, but none of the cars just lying around. GTAV had all sorts of motor vehicles, and it did not feel small at all. Also, if anyone has played the first Mass Effect, something like the Maiko would be awesome. However, some of the other posters brought up a valid point, most cars in RL are designed to work on very well-maintained roads. For this reason, this is why air support is needed to infiltrate some parts of Afghanistan.
