Dose Dog armor do any thing?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 8:49 am

I know it looks cool when you deck out your character and all. And the same goes for Dogmeat. But Dose that nice looking dog armor do any thing else. It seem to have no defense at all. So is there something hiding behind the zero defense number we see? Or are they eye candy only?

I am going to be no help with this, since I am unsure. My thoughts though, since Dogmeat can't die then having armor with actual stats would be kind of pointless.

he could stay up longer. There are a few different armors. I think the heavy dog armor has damage resistance

Yep was kind of my point. I know Dogmeat can not die. But I was in hope the armor would let him stay in the fight longer.

Because armour would not clip properly with suit. Only dress which is modeled with armour in mind can have armour layers added. That leaves all dress with jackets, coats and similar out.

Nope.. doesn't seem to. I was just checking out all the armor I put on dogmeat. He's got the heavy dog armor, dog helmet, double dog collar and some welding goggles. .. Nothing has any damage resistance. I guess his perception is raised though. I"m assuming that companions sort of level as you do.. otherwise they'd be totally useless at endgame or completely overpowered in the beginning.

I think some of the Mongrel dog armours have spikes, and thus damages melee opponents who attacks Dogmeat, not at all sure tho. The muzzle might improve his attack strength. When the geck gets released, we will know for sure.

Any who can confirm taking damage from spiked mongrel armour in melee, perhaps?

It's there purely for cosmetic reasons and nothing else.

Not according to the manual. Says DM's armor is for show only

I assume they do too. Once I passed 50 I started seeing some pretty brutal melee executions from my companions that I didn't even know were in the game. I don't melee much with a 2 str, but they will.

Dogmeat is crap in combat. He dies too quickly. He's only good when fighting only one monster, because then he bites it in place and you can rush in for an easy finish. Which is cool when it happens on a tough monster.

But he works with the lone wanderer perk, so you can have backup and still get the (massive) weight limit increase and various combat bonuses :D
