what settlements would benifit from

settlements could be better if a couple things were added and changed at the same time.

resources and their limitations

- why is it that a tato gives as much food as a melon? seems a little weird to me because half my settlements need around 30 tatos to feed 15 people which can take up alot of space it also adds to the fact that they take up less room than melons which can ba a pain to lay down.

1) change food to be more important depending on the food tatos give 0.5, melons give 1, and things like corn and mut fruit give 1.5

2) change food to have a spoil time tatos spoil the fastest, melons next, then corn, and finally mut fruit.

3) change food to have longer replenish time, tatos being the fastest replenished, then melons, corn, mut fruit taking around 3 in game days

4) make settlers need more, around 5 per character making a max of 20 settelers need 100 food which is not impossible by any means

5) make food a boxed resource when farmers pick it moves into a food box for the entire settlement, which fluctuates with the day as people need food and if they are not feed for some time they will try to move to a settlement that does have the resources for them.

supply lines functionality

- people will say thats what supply lines are for and thats fine but i cannot make heads or tails of the supply lines in fallout 4, i just send suppliers where ever i think they might be needed or random places, the supply lines could benifit from making supply runners a little more controlable.

1) give supply lines more depth instead of making them move to a single settlement, allow suppliers to move in a straight line in between all settlements essentially making a mobile settlement of suppliers stoping by each of your settlements one at a time giving extra resources.

2) make a in game storage box where extra resources go where supply lines pick up before moving for the next settlement

3) allow supply lines to be attacked, while your settlements may be built like fort knox these supply lines are just roaming targets which can be attacked quite easily, adding in a way to hire people to protect your supply lines would be a great addition.

defence and settlement attacks

- we play fallout for story and combat but if combat is so far and few between for settlements people dont really care about them as much.

1) when your settlement is attacked dont make it the players job to help everytime, if im in the middle of a mission and sanctuary gets attacked i'm not droping what i'm doing just to stop a few raiders. have it where if the settlers fail to protect an area raiders take over the area and you have to retake it again, if they succed however allow your settlers to take the items they loot and store them in the workshop.

2) make settlement attackers bodys go away over time, i fought 12 gunners at the castle and their bodys are still there....and that was 7 in game days ago the bodys linger and make the place look horrible, i've been force to drag them to a corner of the castle and stack them together, wish i could do the same with the ash piles though.

3) make a community box for settelers to arm themselves with, i've got so much extra armor and weapons i've got no time to micro manage all these settlers, i wish i could just throw some items in a settlement box and people arm themselves with whats in it rather than go through a box inside my house clearly not for them!

other than this have i missed anything? i think these changes and things could make settlements that much more enjoyable for those who like creating them.

Alright, here are a few ideas:

Interactive settlement sets:

For example a "dining" set would include tables, chairs, cooking stations and food storage containers. NPCs would interact with these. Assign a settler to the cooking station and they will make meals from raw foods in settlwement inventory that increase efficiency (so having multiple crops is more efficient than tons of one type). You'd also see settlers sit down and eat at certain times.

Faction Flags/Sets:

Once you get a high enough standing with a faction you can place a flag in a settlement to convert it to that faction. You get a unique build set related to that factions and settlers will dress apropriate for that faction.

Settler Rank/Leveling:

As a settlement grows and settlers stay longer they rank up and get a new name. Becoming more powerful in combat and more efficient at tasks. Something like Refuge->Settler->Citizen. Maybe with each settlement having a chance to create something like a local legend if the town grows large enough. A single settler that stands out some how above all others
