I recently rebought oblivion for the xbox360. Went with the GOTY edition this time and i've installed the latest patch. In any case, i'm sitting at around level 25 now and have been duping items for about half that time. As i entered glademist cave to complete oreyn's mission (right after being named champion of fighters guild) i killed the blackwood troops and it was then that i first noticed that i could no longer duplicate certain items. I was unable to duplicate any of their enchanted armors. So i reloaded my last save, duplicated some of my own enchanted armor, and everything worked fine. No matter what tho, as soon as i entered the cave, i was no longer able to duplicate enchanted armors of any sort (even my own).

After a few tries i simply reloaded my save once more and left the mission behind. Next i attempted one of the early main quest missions. Same thing happened at a certain point during that mission, and so i reloaded, rinsed, repeated, problem persisted. Just to be sure, after i reloaded my previous save i did a minor side quest and found that i was still able to duplicate enchanted armor afterwards. Why i was able to do that and not the other more important missions is bizzare.

Has anyone ever noticed this? It seems to only prevent me from duping armor pieces. Enchanted Rings, soul gems, scrolls, etc, are still elegible to be duplicated. I'm using the scroll method of duping, also i'm running a sizeable amount of permanent enchantments on my character (40-50 separate items). It seems like i reach some random point during a quest and i can no longer duplicate armor. I know i can still permanently enchant using rings and amulets, but its still pretty annoying.

Certain items cannont be duplicated, like Sigil stones, and black soul gems

i have no i dea how to dup but their saying they were duping items before a certain quest point but once they reached that point they ould no longer dupe the items they were previously duping minuits before ...

Right, but why was i able to duplicate enchanted armor pieces, and then, at some random point during two random quests, appear to lose this ability permanently? I have a fair amount of enchanted armors that i have used for permanent enchantments. Could this have anything to do with it? Are perm enchantments limited with armor and unlimited with clothing and jewelry?

This is all very strange and it never happened during my first three playthroughs. I've honestly never seen anything like it and it just doesnt make sense to me.

Well, i figured it out. I had been carrying around a set of the enchanted dark robes (that you get after becoming the head of the dark brotherhood) even after i had duplicated them, and then permanently enchanted myself with their powers. Going through the menu, i decided to wear the set that i had not destroyed (placed the duped set in a corpse's inventory) and i got a message saying that i could "not equip this enchanted item at this time". I sold both pieces (probably should have put them in a corpse's inventory for good measure) and now i can once again duplicate enchanted armor. I should note that i first tried simply dropping the items, which didnt fix my problem. Since selling the items, I've tested duplication with all types of enchanted armor (light, heavy, greaves, helmets, etc) and they all work as they should.

I guess the moral of the story is to not hang on to any items once you have duplicated them and permanently applied their effects. I doubt anyone has run into this problem, since i'm sure most people discard any item that they use for permanent enchantments. I guess i just liked the way the black robes looked, and so i kept them. lol.

Actually, you can duplicate these two items. No problems with the BSGs, but if you dupe Sigil Stones, then drop them, you hear a sound that sounds like screaming, like the Golden Egg in Harry Potter, and then the game crashes.

I've duped small numbers of Sigil Stones with no problem (no more than 15 or so) but I am unable to dup enchanted items or items that are repaird over 100. What gives?

I duplicated a bunch of black soul gems earlier and it worked fine. Which method of duplication are you using? The one involving arrows or the one involving scrolls? The only Items I can't seem to dupe are daedric artifacts and some enchanted armor and weapons.

As I've said before on a different thread, they "fixed" it with an update. I own goty and I've done this before if you clear your system's cache. This gets rid of all updates to your system.
