Pip-Boy shows wrong info on settlements

Post » Mon Nov 30, 2015 9:44 pm

In Pip-Boy > data > workshops, sometimes it shows the wrong number of resources in a settlement, and/or indicates a problem (with an exclamation mark) when there is no problem. If a settlement has 10 beds or 10 settlers, it may show only 1 or 2, giving you momentary anxiety; then when you go to that settlement, you notice nothing has been changed and the Pip-Boy shows the correct info again. The map screen may also show the wrong number of settlers -- until you go to that settlement and it shows the correct number again. This has happened so many times that I have lost count. It has happened both before and after the latest beta patch. Right now, I just resort to visiting every settlement regularly to check on them, but I don't know if I can keep this up if my settlements grow in number.

For me it was tied to having a television on at a settlement.

Since the inaccurate stats only show up occasionally it's hard to tell for sure. Once I had a TV running at Sanctuary, the glitch started happening. Same thing for the Boathouse. Upon removal and several in game days, the problem hasn't shown up.

I've noticed that as well that settlements show problems on Pip-Boy, but then when I get there, there's nothing wrong. I wrote that off as being poor communications between settlements. "We were having problems, but that was yesterday. By the end of the day, we had things sorted out. nice of you to stop by for a visit though."

Same here. Pip shows issues...travel there, no issue to be found. Pip screen has also been showing zero people in a few of my smaller settlement (1 or 2 people)...fast travel to see what's up and find that the folks are still there working crops or guarding posts. Strange.

Also, really finding myself really struggling with establishing some supply routes. Some work fine, some don't.

Settlements are a great gameplay piece, and I'm enjoying them a lot more than I ever thought I would. Just needs a few more tweaks.

what they should change is the timer on settlement-help missions....either that or give an indication how much time you have

Same here. It seems to only do it to Sanctuary for me though. Maybe I haven't noticed it on other settlements, Sanctuary is my main base so I tend to ignore most of the others.

Weird that a TV would cause a glitch like that. Has anyone had issues with placing/trashing/editing items and their placement while having a heavy machine gun up?

A lot of others have posted that they found it tied to the tv as well.

I just chalk it up to too much television is bad for you, especially if you just watch the test pattern all day.

I'm seriously thinking of putting the tele on a timer and seeing if the bug doesn't occur when it's only on for half the day.

I've noted this also but found out that the settlers will repair stuff. For example I was told that a settlement sudden had no water and the DEF was down. I figured I somehow missed an attack and went there. One of the settlers said something about 'showing those mutants' but I never found any bodies. I made a water pump and noted that one of the turrets wasn't working. So I had to go to another settlement to get the parts. When I came back the turret was working, but it said it gave only a 3 DEF instead of the 5 DEF it was supposed to give. Then I checked my PipBoy and it said it was giving a 5 DEF. Then I go back later and the same turret is now showing a 5 DEF.
