Abernathy Farms won't produce more crops

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 2:26 am

So, I'm now working on my 3rd settlement Abernathy Farms. I notice there are a ton of crops already planted and only 3 settlers currently living there. So I set up a recruitment radio beacon and come back later. There are now 6. Good, right? Now I got more farm hands. But nothing happens when I try to assign them to crops. The food number doesn't increase and it still shows the crop as unassigned. Yet another bug? Has anyone else had this problem?

Do the crops you try to assign them to indicate that they need a worker? Have you tried planting new crops and assigning the workers to those?

1 person handles 12 crops which feed 6 people. Limit 30 people's worth of food per settlement.

I suppose I could try planting more and try assigning them to those.

Mutfruit provides one unit of food per plant. Everything else is 1/2 per plant. So you have to assign one person for every 6 units grown.

It gets confusing becomes sometimes settlers seem to take over without being assigned, but to guarantee food production, you need to explicitly assign them.

You can go over 18 food. I have some settlements with 22 settlers and generating up to 30 food.

Each assigned farmer can harvest 6 points of food; most foods only provide 0.5 food, except for Mutfruit, so typically a farmer can handle 12 plants, or 6 Mutfruit.

If there is an limit to the total food a settlement can produce, it Is certainly higher than the 30 suggested above, several of my settlements have 40+.

To maximize food production, ensure your crops are planted in groups of 6 total food produced(6 mutruit or 12 of any other plant) and that each group has an assigned farmer; use clothing to distinguish them from other workers for ease of identification.

I think it is an issue with that farm. There are a whole range of plants there that do not highlight in workshop mode. I put in extra plants, and don't forget the others at the other side of the settlement.

AF is one of my main food producers, not having any problems with crops there.

I think it's the default area of some of them that's the problem. I tried moving them and now I can assign settlers to them.
