Can *almost* take hostages.

So I have 10 Charisma, and all 3 levels of the Intimidation perk. I was very pleased that I could make people follow me, and take their ammo, etc.

But when you walk away, they become hostile again. Even if they have no weapons, no ammo, they'll run up and try to punch me.


So I heard a gunfight, quite a large one from a little ways away, and decided to try to steal a soldier in the midst of the battle.
Lo and behold, a lone Gunner Commander was in the corner of the firefight, unsupported.
I pacify, and take his ammo, get him to follow me.
All the way back to Sanctuary, where I made a beautiful little jail cell, just for him.
I strip him of all his items, shove him in, close the door.
Open the console, select the door, type 'lock 120' (This sets the door to 'barred')
Well, after about 30 seconds, (I walked to my storage and back and stored his things) my settlers start making 'aggression' quotes such as 'What?' and 'I'll find you!'

Turns out they walked right into the room he was in, and shot him through the window.
Because he turned aggressive after I left. After realizing this, I tried almost everything. I set his faction to the minutemen, I removed him from the gunners, I 'setrestrained 1'
And my settlers will still kill him.

Any tips? Hopefully the modding community turns this into the grand activity I wish it was, I want to make a two story jail for all of my hostages.

Wow +1 for effort and originality. The perk sounds great, my character has 10 Charisma too so I should get it soon. :)

Oh wow, I thought the perk would be pretty pointless. This actually sounds fun!

:P and some people have been saying role playing is impossible, that perk alone gives us more option to play as raiders than any thing else before. I think I may eventually build a prison settlement to store my captives. Thanks for the idea.

Try to disable his ai ('tai' or 'toggleai' I think) while he's pacified. Might stop him from turning hostile.
