Truely horrifying idea

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 11:58 am

In game advertisemants. Now before anyone lynches me, hear me out. Imagine billboards or radio ads. Now they would also have to be lore friendly. So it wouldn't be telling you to guy to grocery store. It would have to tap dance around that.

For example a radio ad, buy levi blue jeans at your local retailer! Pre-war glory that will survive anything you can!

Now whats the benefit to the player? More content. First you get the ads, which if done right are immersive. Then the devs can also add in extra weapons/armor. (Basically as a thank you.) Also, since they are only billboards/radio ads they are easily avoided or ignored.

Ok, I am done with my truly horrible idea. :bunny:

Does not make a lick of sense in this ga,me, none of the brands crossover. But i think in a completely different game, such as a game set in our world i think it would work fine. But in this i never want to see Nuka-cola swapped out for Coca-cola

It’s been done before, I forget the name of the game but there was Mountain Dew drink machines all through it, I did not play it but I believe I recall hearing that Mountain Dew soft drinks was also a healing item.

So yes that is horrifying.

This has Call of Duty written all over it.
Do you hear your THIRST calling?
Answer the call, with Call of Duty and Mt. Dew!
Look under the cap for your chance to win an exlcusive CoD DLC, and power up in game (EXTREME!} with Mountain Dew! (To The MAX)

the brands in Fallout are all Bland name products(see tv tropes, go on we will wait for you to come back in 2-3 days.. . .), and often somewhat insulting in some way.

i once posted an idea like this as a way to get more/better music eg you want to use music that Sony own the rights too but instead of paying them you give then in game adds like call a radio station after them or give them billboard space (faded so they look right)

What I could see is a company hiring some really good modders, and putting out a free mod that heavily advertises their product, maybe even some quests involving their product, it would be a lot cheaper to do that then sponsoring the game.

Radio ads would be intrusive and unwelcome. I'd greatly welcome any company for (tattered) billboards as it is non-obtrusive and can also serve as a reference point.

"How do I get to so and so?"

"Head west from (major settlement) and continue on until you see the Levi's billboard."

I'd only really be upset if it were something that conflicted in game lore such as seeing a Coca-Cola advertisemant when it's established Nuka-Cola (it's ripoff) is the Fallout's version of it.
