The Introductory Sequence

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 5:13 am

I hope the intro/character creation sequence isn't as long as that in F3. It got tiresome.

I liked FNV's short version.

Failing that, I hope the Vault door rebuild screen returns.

I won't even mention the acute pain of Skyrim's intro sequence.

To be fair the game drops a save after the wagon ride but before creation, so its not more painful then other intros.

I miss the days when you simply got a character creation screen right off the bat, built your character and then entered the game.

Even FNV was far faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar too damn long. Even clicking through it as quickly as I could it still got damn tedious.

At least Fallout 3 made a save at the end of Vault 101 right before the final character creation screen so that you could load up that save and instantly create a character.

Still, the choices made in the vault are then fixed, lest you replay the whole intro sequence so you can choose different outcomes.

It would be convenient enough if you just started the game at character creation screen with the intro fallowing after.

In FNV I keep a save on the road out of town right before the rebuild screen.

Remmus, after that save you still have to go through the keep and cave and all that. I understand why (choosing between factions) but it's still tiresome.

I like the Soul's series intros.

1. Build your dude (or gal)
2. Appear in the game world
3. Promptly die.

I'd prefer it to be like New Vegas' intro, with going-over-the-basics being optional for future playthroughs.

Meh.
Playing through the first time in F3, i wanted to to the "tutorial" to check things out.
Unless I am doing sometHing different with V101, I just load a save prior to exiting. Not a big deal in the grand scheme..
Though, since this is the 3rd installment, unless things are drastically different, I am not sure they will do something as long as F3's intro..

I think I spent more time waiting for Bennie to shut up and shoot me followed by a robot trying dig me up (who by the way, did not have the sense to go find a damned shovel instead of trying to move sand with what was essentially a pitchfork), than the time I spent in Vault 101, INCLUDING my return trip there.

F3/vegas chracter creator stinks (my
Opinion) compared to skyrim so i hope we get a character creator At least as good as skyrim and no let's look at pictures/be a baby to determine skills

I'm patient to a fault, but I really don't mind going through the Vault 101 opening sequence each time, and I've got restartitus like you wouldn't believe. As long as it's not a Kingdom Hearts 2 prologue, I don't mind if it's a bit longer, especially if it gives me some neat role-playing opportunities. Of course, they should still give us a second chance to build our character before we start the game in earnest, as Fallout 3 did.

Fallout NV also gave you the "Last Chance to Make Changes" window. Get a certain distance from Goodsprings and it will pop up.

You're right. I like New Vegas's chargen sequence, too. It reminds me of the sequence Morrowind had. I wish they found a better way to give us the Pipboy, though; it and the vault jumpsuit Doc Mitchell gives you just felt shoehorned in without justification.
