Please dont have the same compass as Skyrim

Looking at the gameplay footage it looks like the compass will be like skyrim, where as you are bee-lining towards your objective you can just turn your character left and right and see where every undiscovered cave / town is located on it with a big marker. This just makes exploring pointless if you know where everything is before visiting that area. The explorer perk was great in fallout if at the end the game you just wanted to see what you missed, but unless someone tells you of a location and puts it on your map it should just stay clear. Or at least give us the option to remove those types of markers from the compass without modding.

Well, even fallout 3 and fallout NV had a compass like that; there were small markers showing locations you hadn't discovered on the compass.

If they had a generic marker like previous games, and only knew what it actually was once you made it to the location I would like it.

I personally think they should the player should have complete control of every HUD element.

  • Color
  • Size
  • Toggle
  • Location
  • Any thing else you can imagine.

I do not want glowing auras (like crafting objects) in the game, aside from VATS.

I do not want anything on the HUD, aside from a small dot for a crosshair (yay!), both in and out of combat.

I want HP, Rads, AP... only shown when injured / active in combat.

I only want the crosshair to pop up when in combat or viewing an object or target / enemy.

I want the compass direction only.

I want to locate the compass in the top center of the screen.

This. I'm pretty sure the previous games just had small triangles that showed you where stuff was, but those were very easy to ignore unlike how skyrim which had a huge tree or house to indicate any point of interest, making skipping them just a waste of time really.

Oblivion had specific markers, in addition to quest markers. Fallout 3 and NV have a generic location marker (undiscovered and discovered, but not town vs. dungeon etc.), quest marker, and enemy markers. Skyrim had quest, enemy and specific markers AND introduced markers floating above objects in the world. I'd assume Fallout 4 will do it like Skyrim.

Well, I'd like a fully mod-able UI, suitable for PC with the ability to include and remove all UI elements.
