Solving the 2 voice problem

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 3:52 am

Okay so a lot of people have been concerned over the fact that there are only two voices you can have in game, one male and one female. Now I thought that since mods can go on both PC and the Xbox One (possibly PS4 but we don't know yet), what if there was a mod that was similar to some voice recording software that simply allowed you to adjust the pitch and bass of the already said dialogue the character says to make their voice higher, deeper, etc. as opposed to having someone else repeating the same 13,000 lines of character dialogue. I'm not familiar with modding, but I was wondering if this would be a decent idea or not.

The problem with that is just the sheer amount of work it would take to alter the tonal qualities of the player character's voice. A third party mod would not be able to easily accomplish this job: that would require tweaking every single line however many times over to get it the way you want it to.

If there was some sort of system similar in fashion to the voice changer in Sims, for example, it would work. But stand-alone mod? I doubt it.

That was my thinking, just to adjust the tone of voice exactly like the way you would in Sims. Is that feasible?

Changing pitch and speed at the same time is extremely easy, but obviously screws up the timing on everything else. There are apparently methods to change the pitch of sampled audio (i.e. not MIDI format) without changing the speed, but I don't know how that is done.

Yes, in all the other games the lip files that moved their mouth were based on the length of the audio file it was made for. That would be an astronomical task to edit them all.
