Pipboy editions up on Ebay

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 4:50 am

Already seeing them pop up on Ebay for around $250. Bethesda please dont shut us out again like you did your android fans.

Your gonna need alot more Pipboy editions then your putting out. ALOT MORE! Fallout is way to popular IMO. Why do I say this? There are people out there who dont know squat about video games but they know what Fallout is. I have tons of game Tshirts. And I only ever get complimented on my Fallout shirts. Never on the others.

All your doing is assuring the ebayers are gonna make bank baby!

Only the stupid and the disgustingly rich would buy from those scammers. I'm positive it also violates E-Bay's policy.

Pretty much this. Bethesda is doing all it can regarding this issue. :)

I was also pretty amazed to see these things getting listed when the seller can't even guarantee that they will have the copies available. I mean it is one thing to see an increase in Fallout 3 and New Vegas collectables going up for sale at a time like this, but reselling preordered games at those prices is not very nice.

So I hope Bethesda will be able to satisfy all your Pip-boy needs; myself included as I also ordered me the collector's edition from my online retailer and hope to prance around the house with my new Pip-boy pretending it's 200 years after the war and having to live in a desolate wasteland! Which isn't too far from the truth already because my place is a dump so I don't need to pretend much! :P

I hope they can make more. Would be nice. I do know that it is against eBay policy to sell these because they cannot be shipped within the 30 day window. Issue I have seen is they will let the higher $$ listings slide while ending newer/lower $$ listings. They know that people will retry but it keeps the # lower at any one time. Thus a higher price and more $ for eBay through fees. They have done this before and basically help the eBay market value on things like these early on. Because if they let all those stay on they would actually have some lower prices on the ones that started lower in auction form.

Not that they used my suggestion, but I'm happy it turned out this way. I suggested it should be offered through the Bethesda store only

Ordered mine :fallout: :bunny:

I don't either but if someone were to buy directly from a distributor and sell it on ebay. Then that person is not a scalper by definition. But I doubt there are any, and agree the vast majority on ebay are in fact scalpers. Also, there are many fans of fallout around the world that want to pre-order but can't because many of the US retailers don't ship to those countries (for example: North Korea) or are out of stock and have to turn to "scalpers" or 3rd party resellers.

If there is a person in North Korea trying to order I will expose myself to FEV and live with the consequences.

Once again it's called capitalism. I hate it when people get all self righteous over being unable to buy something and think it completely unfair that others can make a profit. It's not illegal so why should Bethesda step in?

Those selling on ebay for 2-3 times the price do in fact fit the definition of scalper.

What price would that be, the one that retailers make up? The real price is what the manufacturer/distributor is selling per unit (if you buy in bulk of course). So while retailers are jacking up the price on CE's. There just as scalpers as those on ebay. Like bitmap mentioned above, its called capitalism.

Price determination is not just "made up", pulled out of the air, and justifying it by saying it's capitalism doesn't make scalping okay. Pete Hines tweet shows Bethesda doesn't approve of what has happened on ebay with the CE's.

So... are stores just not going to re-stock at all now, or what?

We have to get bent over by people who placed multiple orders across multiple sites to hike the prices up?

Best Buy. Bethesda's Store. Amazon. GameStop.

Those are the only stores (i'm pretty sure, but please correct me if I'm wrong) that sell the Pip-Boy Editions. For the past three days, they actually have been restocking and selling out. Please, if you want a Pip-Boy Edition, follow Fallout on Facebook or Twitter, that is your best best in finding out.

It is against eBay's rules to sell something you don't physically have.

Face it, everyone from the manufacturer to the distributors, to the big & small retailers who buy from them, to scalpers who buy from retailers to resell there pre-orders on ebay or Amazon; are all making money off someone else. Even the shipping carriers are making money off this. I never said scalping was okay, I was agreeing to bitmap's comment about capitalism. America is built on it. Also I don't use Twitter, so I didn't know that. But I wouldn't expect they would, but how can you stop it? All retailers can try limiting 1 qty per person. Not sure if that will fly with every retailer. The manufacturer could make more Pip Boy Editions. But that wouldn't make it limited or special. Plus, how many would they make? How many would they think would sell? Lots of risks involved. Nobody wants to be stuck with merchandise they can't sell. If people who still haven't got one, just wait til after the release date. I'm positive all the major retailers will have some in stock again from people who canceled or returned there orders. Thats what happened to me once with Black Ops 2 CE from Gamestop. It was sold out then after release date. I was able to snag a copy from another customer who canceled theres when I was at the store.
