Question about idle animations.

Post » Mon Jun 07, 2010 5:12 pm

I have never really done that much with NPC packages except like move here, talk to player, move here, ect. I am having a room the player enters with like 6-7 guys sitting around and it needs to look like they are just hangin' out and waiting around. So I was going to use idle anims with some sandbox packages for each of them. Is there a place I can view all my choices for idle anims and such? I have never worked with them and I'm not really sure what my options are or how to go about this. Thanks for any help.

When you go in to the package to set it up the last tab is titles Idles. Anyway, there is a little square you can check to turn on the option to use specific Idles that you choose yourself. Once you click the little box a list becomes availabe for you to fill. When you do the usual adding (click in open space thing) it will bring up a big list of the Idles and you can choose an NPC (or creature) to model the Idles for you. It doesn't tell you there which Idles will work in which circumstances, some of them don't, I don't know all the rules. But, you can put them in and see if they work. The Loose Idles are probably what you are looking for. Stuff like LooseSitBackinChair or LooseStandingCrossingArms or whatever. Also, you could go to Gameplay > Idle Animations to see the conditions put on the individual Idles, but I find that kinda difficult to negotiate and it's not crystal clear to me from that list which Idles will play with which group doing what (to me anyway). I just added Idles and if they didn't work I deleted them from my list.
