Wait?.....Jetpacks levitation?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 5:41 am

Not particularly. The only difficulty with 'open cities' mods for Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas on the PC was that the game's scripting, and most other mods, assumed that you still had those silly barriers, thus making it so open cities mods weren't particularly compatible with other mods that weren't made specifically with them in mind, not that the game was particularly demanding with open cities mods installed.

... So, if the jump pack (right?) is fueled by AP, that means...

Jet + 10 Agility = higher jump

The "higher" you get, the higher you fly?

Oh I hope they will :) (same for vehicles...sorry, I know many people don't want vehicles, but I am not one of them and I think that those who don't want them should let the rest of us have the pleasure and just don't use them themselves!)

I hope so (that would make flamer fuel usefull - for me - for the first time (I just don't use flamethrowers...I prefer energy weapons and normal guns), though we'd need a way to make that fuel then (as we will be burning a lot of it...)

it seems like the jetpack is more for controlled descent, but you can jump pretty high with it.

I'm looking forward to the jump pack/jet pack.

I think you will be able to jump up at least a story or two, but I'll go one better than that.

If you want to get to the top of a skyscraqer or a tower that you can't reach with the jump pack/jetpack, what is stopping you from calling in your vertibird, moving over the target then jumping out?

You don't even have to land (although getting off without the jump pack/jetpack might be pretty hard).

Watch that first step!

This will really expand the map.

Yeah as others have said, I don't think it will be used for true flight or levitation. Just for jumping

Assuming you're allowed to jump out of the vertibird. If it's a fast-travel alternative, you may well not be able to leave until it's arrived at the destination, and won't be able to fly it over any particular place.

You can see a "jump" button while the player is in the Vertibird during the E3 demo.

So yes, you CAN jump out of it.

i'd much prefer a jump-pack to a jetpack all day long, i think being able to fly around would take alot of the fun out of exploring. same applies for vehicles, i'd love for vehicles to be a thing in fo4, but only as much as a motorbike or a really [censored] car.. total mobility will ruin this game!

although the first time flying 10,000ft above the wasteland would be [censored]in awesome.

Based on what we saw when it was used in Concord, it is more of a jumppack than a jetpack.

It uses action points before shutting off.

It did seem to be able to lift the Lone Survivor up, but only a story or two.

This seems like a lot of fun without being overpowering.

Course we don't know how upgradeable it will be.

If nothing else as the Lone Survivor progress his actions points will increase and we will be able to jump further.

Go too high above a walled city or somewhere you're not supposed to be and convenient guided rocket missiles take you down.

Maybe guards, or something. A story friendly way of putting limitations.

Ah, thanks, I'd missed that.

That... could be a bit of a liability when travelling at any height. I wonder how many people will hit that button accidentally, and have to go back to their last save?

You can't spell "misadventure" without "adventure"!

Also take notice during the video that it drains the power of the PA along with AP. AP drains more quickly obviously but the suits power also drained a bit.

Hopefully the vertibird will fly down to a safe height above the target before you exit.

Maybe 5' or so unless you are rappelling or using the jumpjet.

Since the Lone Survivor is not the pilot of the vertibird, I bet if you try to go some place where you are not wanted, the pilot will tell you that they can't go because it is restricted airspace.

Safest place I can land you without taking a missile up the tailpipe is...

it will be interesting to see how much risk the vertibird pilot will allow.

Will they come in hot?

You do have a mini gun.
