I am new to Today's tech (not to FallOut 1 2 and 3), but I have looked forward to Fallout 4

1. is it true I need to have Steam to run FallOut 4?

2. my dvd disc/disk drive is external (writes 2x),

a. do I need a dvd drive to run the game (FallOut 4)?

1. If so, is this sufficient?

2. or is the drive only needed for a Piracy/ownership check?

3. I use Symantec Norton Security suite for additional security/firewall/identity protection,

does anyone know if this will interfere with

a. FallOut 4 and/or

b. Steam (if Steam is required)?

(as long as I am not on the internet, I can disable security)

4. Will or should I add a mouse to my system? I now use a touchpad/touch screen combo

a. will I need to disable the touch screen?

5. I hear/see a lot of references to Pip Boy and Shelter apps... I thought FallOut 4 was a standalone game... is it?
