When the game launched, I played for about 30 hours straight with absolutely no issues. I sympathized for the poor souls who apparently could not even boot the game at launch, and at the very least were crashing every 15 minutes or so. I had 0 problems and felt like maybe I was just lucky. If you are reading this and have already read the title, you obviously know that I thought wrong. At about 30 hours, I unlock Starlight Drive-In as a settlement. I spent a good 10 hours making that place the most legit settlement in the Commonwealth, complete with a giant sign of my name "Peggy" (not my real name btw. lolz) So after I'm satisfied with it, I leave to do some questing. I get a misc. quest sometime down the road telling me to defend Starlight Drive-In, so being that it's my favorite, I ain't lettin that shiz be destroyed! Unfortunately, after waiting in a load screen for like 5 minutes, I crash straight to my desktop. No error, nothing. So I try a few more times. Crash every time. I try approaching from different angles, but anytime I get within a certain proximity of that place, I instantly crash. At this point in the game, I used no commands, no mods, just straight vanilla game. So it is nothing on my end. My PC is decent enough to run the game. I had no performance issues of ANY kind until this started happening. So after several days of severe discouragement and mourning, I decide to move on and accept that I could no longer help my once favorite settlement. Towards the end of the main story, many, many hours later, I'm sent to the glowing sea. Luckily, I was able to complete the portion of the quest needed to progress, but upon trying to explore the eastern side of the glowing sea, once again I crash. Same exact crap. I'm sure there are things out there that I'm unable to uncover and it's really pissing me off. What set me off is what happened to me today. This one surely takes the cake. So, 140+ hours into the game, I've done basically the majority of what there is to do. So I'm perfecting all of my settlements right now until I get super bored of it. The Castle has become my favorite as of late. Yesterday I had 15 people at the castle, and even had to defend against some raiders, so it's been pretty fun adding stuff to it, and getting to see some action here and there also. Anyways, so I was setting up a MILA for Tom, and as I finished, I pulled up my Pip-Boy to check on the Castle and WTF. It said I had SIXTY SETTLERS?! Obviously I had to check it out. I needed to see whatever attraction was obviously grabbing the attention of every traveler in the area. It had to be amazing! As you can probably guess by the pattern of this post, I crashed. Over and over. Yeah.
TL;DR
Bug that causes (fast)traveling to certain areas to immediately crash the game to desktop should have been fixed last week. This is game breaking and prevents progress and at the very least ENJOYMENT. Bethesda I love you, but fix this. Fix it.
