Fallout 4 crashes with gtx 970 "appcrash"

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 6:59 pm

Have tried everything i could think of and keep getting this message as fallout tries to launch. Did the borderless/windowed mode, checked another game (skyrim) and it runs fine. I did a clean install of the GTX 970 as well.

Updated the driver, rolled back the driver, "optimized" game in GeForce, etc. Still the same crash. WTF

With it not being a specific Fallout 4 issue it might be worth using Google instead.

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=appcrash+c000001d&oq=appcrash

Seems several different things can be the cause and fix.

? It does seem to be specific to Fallout 4--Skyrim works fine.

I'm not saying its not Fallout 4, but its an error code almost a decade old, so I'm sure its got something similar with other errors people have had. If you want to fix it you might have to do a little digging.

^^^ Hey that seems to work! Very weird though. I guess I can't play the game "optimized" for some reason. For example "actor fade" is 14,705 out of 15000.

Thanks for that. You helped more than the Nvidia guy who i was online with for 2 hours this morning. Crazy that the latest driver doesn't work with my rig......oh well. i hope a new one works soon, would be nice to be able to optimize the game especially since Bethesda recommends the 970.....

You'd have thought their upto date driver would work with a bloody 970, its the one most sites recommend to buy.

I know! I wonder if it's something specific to my rig.....weird that I have to use a 5 month old driver update. Maybe new(ish) ones will work but i am just happy SOMETHING seems to work.....
