Camera? Building? Survivors? Female Character? Mod Kit?

Hello! I often just go "oh fallout" when people talk about the game, cause it's never really been my thing to play some emo lone wolf wandering around.

BUT! Fallout 4 actually looks neat-ish.. I am just curious about a few things and cannot find much info on the game at all. So I figured I would ask here ? ^_^

1. Camera, are you forced into 1st person mode for combat? I think in one of the game trailers I saw you can run around in third person which made me happy.

2. Building! this part has me all kinds of yay. I know you can build a home, but can you build an actual town?

3. If town building or base building is a thing. I know merchants come.. but any chance survivors might come and hang around there? help maintain the place like the gardening and stuff? can give them weapons and such?

4. Female characters.. am curious how they will be handled? is it going to be like Saints row.. where your female character sounds like some huge angry lisbian when they speak to people? Will it be possible to play a polite gentle type survivor?

5. Mod/tool kit. Will Fallout 4 have one like Skyrim had? If so.. please fix the head issue stuff..no matter how many tiems I made a custom NPC in skyrim.. they wouldn't come out right with their facial marks and proper colors.. and the head skin was always off.

Thanks in advance to anyone who might know info on this stuff!

1. You can go into third-person mode in Fallout 4. First-person is always the priority in Bethesda games, but third-person has been getting incrementally better; it should be playable, definitely moreso than the last two games, probably on par with Skyrim's but with better aiming.

2. From the demos, it seems like it. Maybe not a huge town, but a decent settlement, sure.

3. Yes. That's what they've been talking about in interviews and articles, anyway.

4. There's only one voice actor, Courtenay Taylor, for the female protagonist. But judging from what we've seen so far, it's probably possible to play like that. You'll have a lot of control over your character's personality and choices, as per the standard in Fallout.

5. Yes. They've even talked about letting people upload mods to consoles, although the tools they release will be PC only. I never had the head issues you're talking about; do you mean the neck seam?

Aren't there any age restrictions on this forum/game?

1: you can play the game completely in third person, keep in mind Beth has always had a long standing streak of having trouble making 3rd person combat as good as the first person, so keep this in mind

2: yep, you can build multiple settlements where random NPC move in, you have to make sure there is food and water for them and you have to set up defenses as raider will attack occasionally.

3: yep as mention above, as you build your settlements NPC move in, which you can then assign as guards, tend farms etc.

4: most likely not, saints row is a parody of street culture, Fallout is more rooted in 1950s values and mentalities.

5: Beth has confirmed a mod kit, but it will not be available at launch.

Thanks! I just saw a video where they were talking to Courtenay Taylor. Also thanks for the info on the other things! I really hope they start to update the site with game info.

Yes the forums do have an age requirement. The game I do beleive is going to have a requirement also. Due to violence and possible blood.

ahh nice! thank you. Knowing you can assign them as guards and such makes me over joyed! I don't plan on rushing to the end as much as I want to craft build and stuff.. really looking forward to what kind of neat mods people might make.

1. Nope.

2. Yes.

3. You have to "assign" workers to things to actually make them work. yes you have to hand out weapons/armor or your "settlers" will get killed easily.

4. The voice actor has done a LOT of work, including Mass Effect 3 and Star Wars. She won't disappoint.

5. That "dark face" issue is easily fixed. Yes F4 will have a "creation kit" tool.

:lightbulb:

Hmm knowing this about putting people to work as guards and such, also setting up defenses. Does this mean the game might have respawns? which would be amazing! since there is no level cap. Have they said if raider attacks can keep happening? or only a few times then nothing?

I'd expect something similar to Fallout Shelter, your settlement(s) will be prone to attack, so I think that will keep happening.

until the point where a group of deathclaws raids your settlement and rips you and your settlers a new one ;D

im sure if you have mortars in your settlement even deathclaws wouldnt come near... would be like the bombers area in new vegas... blown to bits..

As for respawning, it's possible that generic NPCs can spawn and respawn as needed. But any NPCs with significant personalities or backgrounds, probably not; they may be made essential or protected, or otherwise the violence from settlement attacks won't kill them at least.
