Bethesda... please allow widescreen (21:9) play

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 6:53 pm

So, I really would love to play Fallout 4 on one of the newer 34" screens with 21:9 aspect ratio. Maybe others have had this thought. If Bethesda is listening, it would be great to know if this will be an option (sooner rather than later) so we could save up money to purchase a monitor like this (or give up the dream)

Does anyone know what Bethesda has done in the past when its come to widescreen (or triple screen) adaptation?

Might as well get the customary "there probably will be a mod for that" response out the way.

Might be more relevant to consoles,

if TV screens become ever more fancy...

As far as I remember Beth has never Bern the dev to support multi screen formats, as for the new screen format, depending on how new it is kinda determines how likely it is added, Beth like any other good dev knows that with projects this long, you cant stop and redo parts just because New hardware hits the market during the games creation, because then you'll never finish and once ya games out, it might just be a broken mess.

So for example Fallout 4 will most likely not have native oculus or similar vr support, because in the span they have been working on this game, it's still a relative new technology.

Of course post launch patching might add the aspect ratio, and maybe even a attempt at a post launch vr support.

Unlikely in the near future, current widescreen format is pretty entrenched.

Philips IIRC used to make some 21:9 TVs, but they got cancelled due to lack of demand.

21:9? That's a big [censored] screen.

I'm still in the ''16:9 is the best'' mind-set. I'm way too slow.

No, stay there. When you start messing about with the aspect ratio you end up with games like The Order. 16:9 is standard, may it always remain so!

I have 16:10 monitor and I'm a bit mad that it has become somewhat a rarity. It's roughly the closest to the aspect ratio of eyesight.

21:9... I still don't understand the point of that. It's too wide.
