A small request from a support type player.

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 1:54 pm

Hellos, first off I know this will most likely annoy many of the regular forum users.. sorry in advance. After readig more and watching more. It appears that they want to offer open ended character development. Which is wonderful, but also sort of not true... I have seen tons of info one of make these guns and kill people. Which is typical gaming.

My request is offer some of kind of option for a support type player to support a companion in battle. Some soft of healing ability (No I am not asking for magic, so calm down) what I mean is like a medical spray? or some kind of mod for a gun that turns it from doing damage into healing.

Thanks for reading ^_^

also, I might be the only one into playing the support role, I did it even in Skyrim..guess I am weird, but hope and hope it can be an option in Fallout 4..cause I can see myself building up lil settlements and just spending hours and hours defending them. Gearing up my peoples (if that is an option)

You mean like playing the role of a field medic? That′s cool, and I think it would be quite easy to make a mod for that. For example it could be a certain Stimpak that can be selected in the same way you select a weapon :)

For animation I think a thrust move is the best; I don′t see how you could ever use a syringe in a slashing way... :P

Consider youre suppose to be the main protagonist in a story, it kinda be off to be a support guy, because well support guys are suppose to support the main character...who you play as, so ya can kinda see why beth isnt likely to support that playstyle, but hey power to ya for trying.

In the end tho mods will be your friend.

Well it is a harsh wasteland, kinda hard not to resort to violence, tho tpdd did mention there is a limited ability to play as a passifist.

I hope so! I mean I don't mind combat. but I hate being having to make a super beefy tank man woman type character...who lost the ability to care about anything other then vengance and blood.

I always feel like a support guy when babysitting companions.. So it would be nice if there was a way to easily heal them with a stimpack without having to tell them to use one or give them one or something.

Of course I believe they've already stated that companions can't be killed? So I guess it doesn't matter. They'll probably lay on the ground when low on health and you'll have to run over and heal them or something. I'll just let them lay there.

One of my characters in NV was a medic. All skills and abilities leaned towards healing and such, as did his inventory. Unfortunately that doesn't do you squat when a pack of ghouls tearing you apart. But I did keep one companion in the best armor and she used upgraded power fists. But unfortunately I really couldn't heal her from a distance. Not sure what kind of tech would be needed for that.

a spontanius idea would be to use one of those air pressure based drug dart pistols/rifles, but instead of sleep drugs or deadly poision you use the drug in a stimpack.

Yeah, I could have her take the power armor plates off her butt so I can dart her tail anytime I think her health is low. Sure she'd appreciate that. :D

I know the feeling as I like to play a tank, so basically what I did was add a little offensive capability to the tank platform with copious amounts of melee and big guns, transforming him into more of a brusier type character.

If you need to you can probably play a more combat medic type character by adding in some gun skill, especially if they expand nonlethal options. You would still focus on healing, be it companions or npcs, but you'd also be able to defend yourself.

Violence is part of many different types of peoples life, having a game with focus on it does not mean a character falls under such a stereotype by default, even the most kind hearted doctor must learn to press a gun barrel between another mans eyes and pull the trigger in the harshness of a nuclear wasteland, to many this dark, grey tone is why this sub genre of sci-fi is so appealing.

Stimpak Crossbows.

NOW, RIGHT NOW, BETHESDA. I can already imagine the rage and struggle when you keep missing your companions by an inch and they die.

Not sure what the op wants really, this isn't a mmo or fps battlefield shooter. So as the protagonist you're it. Definitely don't want companions doing any type of healing etc. They're just there to offer some help in combat and be a meat shield with some story.

Get 10 in CHA and END. Wear heaviest armor you can find.

Sit there taking damage and healing yourself, while your companion kills all the mobs.

With 10 CHA you'll be able to persuade alot of NPCs, while high END will give you survivability.

^ This.

Also, you could use Flash-bang grenades, maybe, or jack up your Per/Agi and use VATS to snipe the pistols out of your foes' hands. Some may charge into melee, or run over to a fallen foe and grab his police baton and charge you, but often they'll just run for cover / run away and your companion will bet attacking all this time. Granted, if you could shoot the guns out of foes' hands you could likely also shoot eyeballs out of faces.... but you don't HAVE to. You ~can~ choose to shoot their weapons out of their hands and/or perhaps cripple their legs to slow their escape and give your companion(s) time to work (of course, with the tendency to have legs explode off and kill the foe you may want to avoid that).

Maybe they'll have something like the dart gun that would do negligible damage but severely impair movement? Or for that matter, sleep darts (they already have KO-only damage boxing gloves, etc so coding a sleep effect into a dart doesn't look too hard).

And as noted above, with a high CHA you could simply avoid a great many fights. With a high AGI you could sneak to avoid even more. I have never really been a fan of having a high END to just "tank" fights, but if you have no means of avoiding a fight, I suppose high END would let you survive longer while you companion works.
