Codsworth War buddy?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:05 pm

If my lore is correct, Weren't Mr.Handy's used during the war for Alaska? Just thought it might be cool if Codsworth was your robot war buddy in the pre-war era and then you just take him home with you afterwards and he becomes your butler. And then waits like 200 hundred years for you to return, after the nuclear apocalypse. That would be a cool backstory for Codsworth I think.

What are your thoughts? tbh these ideas are just to keep me preoccupied until Fallout 4 comes out.

Those were Mr Gutsy models. a more militarized version of the Mr Handy.

Also I dont think the US Military would allow just anyone to take a Mr Gutsy home with them, that's an expensive piece of equipment, and one that can still be of use in combat.

It wouldn't surprise me if Coddie is a special design to work as both a Handy and a Gutsy considering your military background for the male character.

Consider we see they have a mr. Handy box still tucked in a corner I think its kinda a hint he is a relative new addition to the household.

I toyed with the idea he was a gusty retrofitted into a handy (a war buddy that was near destroyed you bought as scrap and had rebuilt) but the box dose blow that unless that's a parts box or what he came back from the repair shop in ( I know reaching)

I like this idea. A few tweaks if I may. Perhaps he was going to be a Gutsy bound for Anchorage but the reclamation had been achieved so at the factory they buried the combat programming under the butler programming and put the Handy features on its arms instead of the Gutsy features. Your character somehow doscovers the hidden combat subroutines and replaces the Handy arms with Gutsy arms. Man, now I'm hoping both the Handy and Gutsy personalities can exist at the same time and it will have conversations with itselves!

Could have been issued by Vault-Tec under instruction from the military.

Well if he was near destroyed and you couldn't get the military spec components, you'd have to make do with parts from the civilian model. Buying a whole new one and cannibalising it may well be cheaper than getting spares.

I doubt the game will support this story, but if you want to play it that way, it makes sense.

Well you could really be CIA with the cover of being Army personnel and Codsworth is like a bond car. Looks like a regular Mr. Handy but has a built in Fatman delivery system. :D

But realistically he is probably just a Mr. Handy.

Codsworth used to be a Mr. Gutsy like RL-3, then he took a laser bolt in the jet thruster.

Truthfully in the E3 gameplay it looks like he is missing a hand (the practical hand not the torch or saw) I would be surprised if you can attach gusty parts for codsworth

Nah thats too far-fetched. Codsworth is a civilian Mr. Handy model, not a military Mr. Gutsy model.

On the topic of robots though I'm so glad they seem to be bringing back variety to the voices of different robots, a la FO3. I hated how they all sounded the same (and boring) in NV

So to reply to most of these post's, I actually didn't notice the mr.handy box so my theory is shot lol. But yes i do know the difference between the gutsy and handy models. But still thought it would be neat if we was your robot war buddy
