How many perks at beginning of game?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 9:34 pm

In the E3 demo it shows you where you choose your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points.

What it didn't show was perk selection.

How many perks do you think (if any) you will get to choose at the beginning of the game?

Do you think this happens immediately after the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. choices as part of the Vault-Tec NPC dialog or do you think it will be a separate thing like the G.O.A.T. in Fallout 3?

I don't think we'll pick any.

We've never started with perk points.

I imagen none, perk points seams in my mind to be exclusively something you earn via leveling up. So this time around, at the start the only thing we define is our stats.

Since we got to TAG! three skills in FO3, I think at some point we might get to TAG! 3 perks to start with.

We'll most likely start with.... none. Unless traits are back in, which we don't know if they are or not... I doubt we'll start with any perks at all, especially since our characters won't level up until they leave the vault.

Some would argue that's where the game begins, but that's nitpicking. You know, tutorial over, go on and play, my little boys. Level one, ding. Ooh, perk.

Possibly one. That seems more than adequate at level 1.

Wait...it would be level 2 we would ding. We START at level 1.

Do you mean traits? Those double ended attributes that had good AND bad things with them? I always skipped those so I wouldn't mind if they weren't included lol

I liked them. They...made a character unique, in a sense. Especially if you role-play like I do. Kinda hinted at behaviors and lifestyles. Things you had to keep in mind about your character.

Indeed, and depending on how high your characters intelligence stat is, that could be a long while after leaving the vault.

I suspect that the main quest will nudge you toward concord and the meeting with Preston early on and the quest will be designed to give you enough exp to ding even if you have a PC with 1 int, heck in the Xbox showing we see the pc ding from 1 to 2 killing raiders.

Level gain was pretty fast in Skyrim. So much so that by the time you make it to Whiterun you'd have quite a few levels under your belt. It could be the same with Fallout 4, although we have no way of knowing for sure. There has been a trend towards more and faster leveling in Beth games over the years, so I'd say its pretty safe that even if we dont start out with a perk we wont be hurting for them.

Yes, but they skipped over the other combat with the mole rats, as well as what ever else they fought before reaching Concord. So they could have built up a bit of exp before killing the raiders, which wasn't just 1 or two, it was more like 4 or 5.
