Say no to settlements!

I've always been intrigued by customizing my own things in games. I remember the Juiced 2: HIN game I rarely ever even played the game I just built cars. I like that we'll be able to build housing, settlements, weapons, and power armor in 4. I think it's always been a "this would be nice to have" feature from the older games that people modded in. And it's not like rebuilding doesn't have a theme in Fallout, you can see settlements in every game. Only now, we get to build a few to our liking. I can't see why a new completely optional feature would really bother anyone

Hmm maybe the next Fallout should also offer you to become a football manager. I mean why not? Sure it's fluff but it adds a whole layer to the game it's completely optional and is just more options for RPing.

i think that its an addition similar to weapon mods in fnv. an idea that came from popular mods, im sure itll add the same amount of power to the game to. could you put a scope on a hunting rifle to make better shots? sure but you could also use a sniper rifle. now itll be can you make a settlement to attract traders?? sure but you can also just use the ones in the wasteland

I love Bethesda but I have to agree I have no use for this rather large "mini game" in my Fallout "open world" game. However I can see the justification for putting it in the game.

I would just have rather they spent that DEV time on the Melee Combat and improving the scripting system.

You're upset that Bethesda spent time and effort on a feature you don't find appealing. Guess what? Not every feature will appeal to every player - but that doesn't mean that the feature doesn't fit into the game. A football simulator wouldn't fit into Fallout. Now, if it were a Fallout themed version of Blood Bowl...then...maybe.

I'm not that into FPS games, and the Fallout franchise started out as a top-down, turn-based RPG. I could be moaning and complaining about how Fallout is becoming an FPS. But I'm not. I realize that some people enjoy FPS games, and while I'm not a big fan, at least it's still single-player and has VATS, so it's a decent compromise. Maybe Fallout 4 will give me a better appreciation for FPS games - who knows?

If, as another poster put it, you "have no use for this rather large "mini game"....", might I suggest that you just ignore it and move on? Some of us like the idea behind it and are looking forward to see how well it has been implemented. If it svcks, we'll complain about it - just as others will if the FPS svcks. But the concept fits in very well with Fallout.
