what are the odds they are still working on the game?

With just over 9 weeks left till release, what do you suppose the odds are that they are actually still working on the release version of the game? We know they aren't adding features and have just been polishing for the last several weeks but with release date approaching, where do they have to draw the line and stop polishing to get ready for print?

That's probably what they're doing right now: getting it all on the various disks, making the game boxes and running through the logistics of getting it shipped out to every gaming store in the world that will do business with them.

The games more then likely done at this point from a dev stand point, day one patch if they're working on that. With 2 months to release pressing the game to disk etc and getting the store marketing materials printed sent etc.

They just finished recording all of the voice acting last week; I can't imagine they'd have sent the game to get manufactured for distribution before finalizing the voice work, so I guess that's what's happening right now. And once that happens, they can still keep working on the game for things like a day one patch.

They could potentially have started work on DLC by now, too, although I doubt anything beyond basic concept work happens with Bethesda before the game launches. They don't plan DLC as early in development as other devs do.

There will be no tracking, trying to figure out the weaknesses of the enemy in order to be able to kill them, or certain cutscenes that the Witcher series is known for in Fallout 4. So everything that makes Witcher 3 unique will not be in Fallout 4.

I actually have put in quite a lot of time playing Minecraft, and the settlement system isn't the same... They are two totally different systems of creation, while serving similar purposes.... Only settlement building looks to be far more in depth than that found in most survival games that allow building... I mean, being able to have settlers living, working, and defending your settlements, as well as being able to set up brahmin caravans between them? That goes far and well beyond what minecraft entails. It's laughable in a way, to try to diminish the settlement system by equating it to Minecraft. Todd Howard mentioned Minecraft because it's the biggest and most well known crafting game. The difference in scope, and function between the two are easily seen by those who aren't against the system. The fact that it is also an optional part of the game as well..... Even if you don't plan to use the system, you've got to admit it opens a lot of great doors for people that enjoy those types of games, but also for those who wish to develop different character roles through roleplay.

As for them still working on the game, of course they are. They'll be working on this game for quite some time, even after it releases.

If you consider content of the game, that's done by now. Nothing new will be added.

Now they concentrate on bugfixing, finetuning and preparing for the launch.

9 weeks before release? I would say almost zero chance. If anything they might be bug hunting right now things that might have to be fixed with a patch after release. But smaller stuff - hopefully! At this point they should be bussy with the release, the game entering the gold status, if it hasn't already, shiping it out to various shops. They will most probably aim for a release before X-Mas, for obvious reasons.

I would be very surprised if they are still in full production. It would most probably mean a delay.

this close to release they're most likely chasing and fixing bugs. they're probably also extensively play testing it.

I'm sure they are still doing bug fixing and I'm guessing there will be a day 1 patch as well.

Games generally "go gold" about 30 days before release, with the demand of FO4 that may be extended somewhat, but I would imagine they are still working on it, probably just polish and bug-hunting at this point though.

Right now, any bug fixes they are working on are probably for their first patch. With the chance that fixes can lead to more problems, they want to send out a stable product, not keep fixing and finding things until the last minute. For their own health and well-being, the game we are going to get day 1 is done right now. Any work that is going on now is for the first patch of known issues, which they have a big list of, like any other game.

The only thing that MIGHT be addressed for a release version is any issues that Microsoft or Sony have in regards to them meeting guidelines for running on their consoles. Most of those should have been addressed by now, but sometimes things get forgotten in the flood. Nothing that would affect gameplay, but how the game interacts with the console's software, firmware, and restrictions.
