I actually saw that tweet and was wondering if it was like a social experiment. than again, the game would basically be complete by this stage

PR move to create speculation. They already know this from achievements.
why on social media why not on their own game forums
i completely distrust any of those media sites like twitter and FB ,
Because far more people use Twitter than these forums.
Sadly, I am sure you are right about this.
I blew up Megaton once because I wanted to see the bomb go off, but then I immediately reloaded a save made before I rigged the bomb so I've never had a save game with a destroyed Megaton in it. If it isn't saved, does it count?
Well I'm not on Twitter but I did blow it once just to see it, but reloaded. I certainly wouldn't want that to be my personal 'canon' history. I mean what kind of varmint would really do that.
If your REAL you blew up megaton on your first play through in 2008 by accident then played the rest of the game making ironic decisions. Like having the ghouls be excepted into tenpenny. ah, good times.
I blew up Megaton once, but it is a more convenient place to live than Tenpenny Tower, so I never did it again.
It seemed to me that only a very evil or very chaotic character would do that, and I rarely play such a character, so...
Definitely has nothing to do with establishing canon. I mean, they just announced that they finished recording all of the voice acting, if they haven't decided what's canon at this point then there isn't a canon.
Just a social media "hey, let's talk about Fallout!" thing.
Blew it up to see it blow up on several occasions.. but then reloaded. I have trouble playing a bad guy in any game. Maybe it's because being bad/evil is never really written to feel that evil. Most of the time being a bad guy basically comes down to you just acting like a jerk or choosing the jerky lines to say to someone. The games hardly register the truly heinous acts you do as bad/evil. "I just stole candy from a baby.. but nobody caught me so I get no alignment shift."
I rolled an evil (second) character who detonated Megaton. She had some nasty words with the sheriff when she arrived in town, then got screwed around by Moriarty, which gave her the impression that this town was just a bunch of jerks.
The best thing about my evil playthrough was having Jericho as a companion. I really enjoyed his comments and combat barks.
