Please separate saved games per character

I'm still confused :), doesn't simply making different user accounts on the console solve this problem?

What if the same person wants to play several characters at once. Yes, people are doing that. And I think the OP was referring to have the option to switch to another character without restarting the game and/or using an external program.

Yep.

And yeah, that seems pretty convoluted. Quit game, quite Steam, log out of user account; log in to second account, log in to steam, run game. What's wrong with just having a simple "select profile" on the game's main menu screen?

Votes yes for this, if it is done in the way of Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

I agree, we need separate save files for each character you make. Skyrim didn't even have that, its a easy way to make sure you don't override a save file you don't want to.

That's why I specified consoles :). It's not great but it would work. Not for me since I don't play games like Fallout on console, but for those that do it's not too bad.

Definitely a great idea, as well as having mods be active per character. This is one of the added features I love about Mod Organizer. It allows you to create multiple 'profiles', which separately houses your character saves and active mods.

Naming your savegames. Just namings your savegames would means a lot, no matter how many characters you have.

How do you expect to be able to recognize your thousands of savegames with no way to customize them youself ?

It is possible to name saves on the PC, but it requires the use of the console. (i.e, command line interface, not built into the regular save UI)

You have always been able to do that on X-Box, you just make another profile for each new game character.

That's a fair statement as any older games had that feature.

This has always been a wish of mine.

Most single player games that both my husband and I play we like on console. Separation of our characters would be nice. I usually have about 3 characters after a few months of playing. We've had accidental losses in the past. grrrr I usually make 3 saves at the end of my play just to avoid any oopsies.

I only get games on my pc because it's something my husband doesn't like and I don't want to hog the console and tv in that case.

Yup, same here.

Also, I support this thread idea for consoles.

Concur. I how can it be to separate saves of different characters into separate folders, maybe with textfile and image outside the folder describing everything.

I agree with this thread. I think a possible solution, if they cannot separate the save files by character name, would be to add columns to the loading list including some of the save file meta data like :date, char name, char location and make the columns sortable.

Todd informed us that the rate of increasing levels is faster than Fallout 3 but slower than Skyrim. From this, we can roughly estimate the total XP required to max everything out, and so based on a total of 311 available levels, this would be somewhere around 4.8 million XP (using the formula 25(2*n+4)(n-1), where 'n' is your level). If you averaged around 2,000 XP per hour, this would take you 2,400 hours. Put another way, if you played an average of 4 hours per day, 7 days a week, it would take you over a year and a half to max out your character. Based on this, I can quite confidently disagree with your statement that creating multiple characters would be pointless.
