Massive and Harder enemies in FO4

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:11 am

I remember my first encounter with a deathclaw.. I got ripped to shreds. I also remember my encounter with the super mutant behemoth in FO3. Once the initial shock was gone I learned to easily dispatch both of these creatures at the highest difficulty even while being a low level character.

I for one want more challenging enemies and larger enemies to fight. Most critters were small with the exception of just a few rare monsters in the wasteland in fallout 3 and new Vegas. Most creatures were also pretty easy to kill with the right weapon. There is just something about a massive and tough enemy that makes you cautious to venture into certain areas.

If I could have 2 creatures one would a small and hard to kill creature that could climb walls and was extremely stealthy and fast. As a large enemy I would love a massive water creature (squid meets crab).

Do you think we will see large enemies and more challenging enemies in fo4? If you could put a creature into the game via mod or the base game or future dlc what would it be?

I think they are really trying to incorporate larger and more varied enemy types, which will bring a bit more of a challenge to the game. Considering the size of Dragons in Skyrim I would say their leeway for Giant creatures and large numbers of enemies has been greatly increased since FO3 and FO:NV.

Not only that but Combat and http://chipsprites.tumblr.com/image/121572719409 seem to have received a good amount of attention.

I suspect we will see some Crazy old AND new Critters and mutants in Fallout 4. I am super excited to start roaming the wastes, looking for interesting places and creatures.

Two words: Winged. Deathclaws.

Oh my dear God; winged deathclaw type creatures would be the freakiest things ever. I would permanently stay in my built shelter and never come out though. As long as they don't bring back cliffracers from Morrowind...

As far as the picture you attached yes that critter is awesome. I just hope it isn't super rare like the ant queen ect in FNV. If there is one per cluster of enemies or per hive it would be great.

Hopefully there will be at least one setting that is really challenging, but I imagine the game will probably require mods for those of us who enjoy this sort of difficulty.

Something along the lines of ASIS for increased spawns and tougher enemy AI would be great!

I hope "harder" this time around doesn't mean make all of the enemies damage sponges, as was the case for Fallout 3 and NV's DLC, and just turning the difficulty slider up in general. Improved AI and enemies that use a variety of tactics (be they raiders finding covered positions or radscorpions burrowing underground, as we've already seen with the latter) would be nice to see.

THIS! I don't want to have to snipe a fiend in the head 5 times. I want him to use cover/ a riot shield/ tactics to become more challenging. As I mentioned I would love resident evil style radiated critters that are super fast and agile and can avoid bullet fire. I don't mind bullet sponges like the massive super mutant behemoth and would love a massive high hp enemy every now and then. I just hope that the other 95% of enemies are tougher based on gear or tactics and not hit points

I just dearly hope there won't be "hard" enemies as in bullet-sponges with magically super-powerful weapons.

Like a deathclaw with a fat man launching mini nukes? I agree that would be no bueno. I'm not opposed to bosses having powerfull weapons and good armor though.

Nah, not what I mean. Although that would be hilarious :D . I meant that uh... example: A regular supermutant shoots you in the head with a hunting rifle, causing 70 damage. Suddenly, a supermutant overload comes around, shoots you in the head with the same hunting rifle (which he took from the dead body if his commender you just killed) for 300 damage.

You know, some logical integrity would be nice.

It is my understanding there were some theories about making a cross-breed between deathclaws and cazadors.

Calling it now, there will then be a DLC that lets you saddle and ride them into battle. It shall be called: DeathClawBorn.

Don't even speak of those despicable creatures. They were the bane of traveling ANY WHERE in Vvardenfel.

I doubt that would be a thing, considering all the evidence we've seen of PA being a limited resource.

Actually, I found MANY challenging enemies in both FO3 and NV. I remember in particular a deathclaw cave in NV that was TERRIFYING, even when I was maxed out levelwise.

If there are more challenges and a greater variety of enemies in FO4, that's fine with me. I'm a little scared of having MUCH tougher enemies, though. I simply may not have the skill to beat them.

Yeah the cave was tricky. With maxed explosives and the Annabelle missle launcher though it was easier on the second play through :)

I love the confined space... It is creepy and challenging and doesn't let you hide a mile away while firing.

That creature is what my worst fallout nightmares are made of. It's pretty awesome though I must say. Not sure how the cazador and deathclaw... Bred though. Seeing that would be a much worse nightmare.

Nah, bro. Fully-upgraded assault carbine. Empty the magazine, reload, repeat.

It might be just the way you think. It's hard to say because we don't quite know how leveling will work, but I suspect that a DeathClaw will be a lot more difficult to dispatch without a mini-nuke or power armor.
