Will there be a Steam Fallout 4 special edition?

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 10:50 pm

Sorry if this has already been answered but I was just wondering if anyone knows if there's going to be some sort of special edition for Fallout 4 on steam. I've held off pre-ordering it because I would rather have any special edition that they might put up with extra goodies like a digital artbook, soundtrack, exclusive weapons, etc.

Thanks for any help. :D :fallout:

Hope not. Exclusive weapons are bad mmkay. Everything should be available to everyone

I agree with above. The only exclusive things in a game should be purely physical (Unless its something stupid like a gamestop branded vault suit. They can keep that in their edition that I wouldn't buy)

There was preorders for New Vegas, but only promotional items for Fallout 3. So no exclusive ingame items for Fallout 3.

The preorder stuff for FONV was a pain for the modders too.

Not a fan of in-game bonus content for pre-orders (or retailer specific stuff), and I don't know what other goodies Steam could offer with a digital download. But I do love myself some nice little physical goods in the game box, like how Elder Scrolls games come with maps.

With the amount of advertising money spent on product placement, I am surprised more in-game assets are not sponsored.

I would hate to be buying my settlement supplies from an in-game Home Depot or Lowes. Or the Game Stop Arms Emporium.

Bethesda has done very well keeping advertising out of their games.

No due to it being available for preorder on steam without anything else.... Unless you wait for a goty edition.

There is no incentive for pre-ordering IMO..

None at all.. You get nothing special for doing so..

I hope not, the only reason I am cool with the normal special edition is because they are not offering anything in game. Just a real world perk chart to hang on your wall and a pip boy for your wrist.

I just checked the Steam Page for Fallout 4, and the verdict is...they've not posted any sort of pre-order specials.

Yes I very much hope they don't do something similar for FO4, the FNV pre-order stuff was a huge annoyance to deal with from a modding perspective.

I'd go ahead and order from wherever you best like to order. I've certainly never based where I buy my game on the exclusives a store offers.. Also, they never remain "exclusive". They should be called "For the time being."

Id LOVE a Cloth Map of the Game region, complete with burns and holes and stuff. Not a Glossy paper style one, but a Cloth map.

I thought the OP was asking about a Special Edition (where you usually get like an art book, making of video, soundtrack, etc) and not pre-order bonuses?

Preloading is the only thing I can think of as an incentive, especially with how big open world games are this gen; 40 GB (Witcher 3), and 65GB (GTA V) for example. I'm guessing FO4 will be around 60gbs.

I would say if this were going to be a "thing" it would have been offered when the game first when on sale on Steam (like most "pre-order special offers" are done). Bethesda has never done this type of thing with their games (that I can recall). Obsidian had some exclusive items in FNV (later released as DLC) and they were nothing but a PitA for modders (tho they were some fairly decent starter items).

I don't mind pre-order bonuses, as long as they are worth it. I don't pre-order much anymore since the console wars left me in the dust and I do all my gaming on PC.

They've never done any in-game bonuses, but they do like to include some goodies in the box. Like, Elder Scrolls games have always shipped with a map packaged in the box. In one of the interviews they did for Redguard (back in what, '99?) Todd Howard even joked about filling the box with sand, since it was an adventure game set on a tropical island.

Actually.....

When Pre-ordering a game from like Gamestop, you can make payments if you arder it soon enough. Useful for those on fixed income.
