Mod Tool PC Requirements Known?

Do we know the system requirements for the Fallout 4 Mod Tool?

So hands up I know the answer to this is a resounding 'No' but I was wondering about the scenario of editing content on my PC, but using my XOne to play it.

The original F3 GECK needed a standalone F3 installation to work, so assuming the Mod Tool will need the same will it be enough that my PC has the game to use the files, as it certainly is not good enough to run the game.

I'm asking as I I'd love to be able edit/create my own content as well as use other peoples, all speculation I know at this point but just wondered.

Probably. Its not like the tool is graphics intensive or anything. At worst, it'd probably run a little slow if your viewing armors/landscape. But if your just messing with npc/item/script lists.. I don't see an issue. But I am just taking a guess here :bunny:

We don't even know the reqs for the base game yet. Definitely don't know anything about the creation kit. :)

Thats my hope with both sets of fingers and all my toes crossed lol

That said I will be just happy with other people's content, but I'll be ecstatic with my own

Of course, all idle speculation and wishful thinking at this point :D

Id doubt the tool will need much, due to it being rendered differently. I remember for skyrim the requirements for the tool were less then that of the game and since its the same engine, Id assume it would be the same.

If the new tools are anything like the old ones, the more memory the better (assuming they are x64....I hope so). Beyond that, any PC that can run the game shouldn't have issues with the tools.

I cannot imagine the mod creation tool will be more intensive on your PC than the base game will be, since it will come with all the base resources.

I'm surprised no one has jumped on this yet.

This might not even be possible. Depending how locked down the modding ends up being.

It has been speculated that there will be an approval process to get mods on the Xbox.

As for doing it purely on your own machine only, it all comes down to how easy to access the game files will be

You will need Fallout 4 installed on your PC in order to load the game data; the Creation Kit is only an application, it doesn't come with any game data. As for what kind of PC you'll need to run it... I used to play Skyrim on a laptop that was never meant to run Skyrim. After reducing all of the graphics options I could (save for texture size), running at the lowest resolution, and using a disgusting amount of performance-enhancing drugs mods, I managed to get Skyrim at a "playable" 15ish FPS.

But with that laptop, I managed to use the editor mostly just fine. I tried making a dungeon, and the only snag I hit was when I tried to add lighting to it - that might have been a bug within the editor itself though. I never tried anything intensive, like landscape editing, though. But http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34184/? was made on that crummy laptop, and all I did for that one was adjust NPC templates, leveled lists, and inventories. I never had any major problems with performance.

I wonder if we can ask what the standard PC build at Bethesda Game Studios is. I bet if someone modded on the same setup Bethesda uses in-studio, the Creation Kit would run a lot more smoothly for them. It's like that with Pro Tools; if you're trying to run Pro Tools on a Windows rig, you need a very specific build for it not to choke up and cause problems. (but honestly, even on Apple, Pro Tools may as well have been developed by Bethesda for how buggy it is)
