Will MFC Breeders be a part of weapon mods

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 2:55 am

Do any of you think that MFC breeders will be a part of our weapon mod list. I know that they were slightly overpowered in New Vegas because of the unlimited amount of ammo it provided for energy weapons, primarily the MF Hyperbreeder Alpha, which was a unique energy weapon in New Vegas. The only reason i think it might not be Incorporated is because it eliminated the need for ammo and made the game easy no matter what difficulty you were on.

Thoughts?

I doubt it. Maybe we'll get an Energy Weapon that runs on something other than ammo, or works like a Recharger Rifle, but I don't think they'll be exactly like what we saw in New Vegas.

There is the hand crank on the laser musket so it is possible the hand crank is a weapon mod that can be used on other laser weapons like laser rifle, laser pistol, and laser sniper rifle. There are the Photon Exciter, Beta Wave Tuner, Photon Agitator, Standard Capacitor, and Boosted Capacitor for the Capacitor mod slot. The Capacitor mod slot appears to be the mod slot that affects the ammo for energy weapon modifications. However, we have no idea what those mods do so it is possible that one of them serves the same purpose as MFC breeders.

That really sort of says it all, I think the laser musket is the new recharger rifle....

(If only I can find one that plays pop goes the weasel when cranked as a futurama nod "war is the H word" ).

I miss the solar scorcher heheh

But the issue is if the laser musket uses mods or not. Personally, I think that the laser musket is part of the improvised laser base weapon so we can modify the laser musket into a laser sniper rifle that requires you to hand crank the weapon for each shot.

Judging between the differences in the E3 video and the... other sources. I do see that their have been changes in the laser musket. Based on this I believe the weapon is mod-able.

The laser musket has such a cool weapon style for it to not be modifiable. The laser and plasma weapons in the E3 Weapon modification have too much of a mass production look to them to belong in the Wasteland. They look like they were weapons that came from 2077 while the laser musket looks like it was built in the Wasteland. It is the same difference between the Pipe Rifle and Assault Rifle. Having a scope that is created with a metal tube and 2 nails certainly fits the wasteland better than a regular scope.

Looking at the protagonist's laser musket and Preston Garvey's laser rifle in that gameplay video, it looks like the hand crank is a mod. Preston Garvey's laser rifle has a beam focuser and a scope which is missing from the protagonist's laser musket.

Except if you look in the lower right corner during the microsoft E3 video, you can see that each time the PC cranks it draws from a numbered pool of ammo, so I assume it has limited ammo, it just has a unorthodox magazine mechanic.

From my understanding, you charge it up and the charge is used up when the weapon is fired. The ammo count doesn't make any sense in that video. Before the VATS shot it has 494, then after the VATS shot it has 514. Also, if it is using an unorthodox magazine mechanic, then how is the ammo being loaded into the gun? It makes more sense that the ammo mechanic for the laser musket wasn't completed at the time of the video. The hand crank makes sense if it generates its own ammo, but very annoying and won't see much use if you need to use regular ammo as well.

We shall see, I still suspect it has limited ammo, the crank to me feels like part of making it a early game weapon, so the classic laser pistol/ rifle can be a more late game weapon, soften the energy weapon progession curve.

Edit: plus numbers jump all over the place in those demoes, so they are clearly clipping together many diffrent playthroughs of the same area.

But the Recharger Rifle and Recharger Pistols are early game weapons in New Vegas due to their low damage. The laser musket would have a long reload time to compensate for the infinite ammo. The laser musket seems more like a weapon that would be used when the protagonist is running low on ammo rather than a weapon that is used most of the time. The improvised laser weapon look to the laser musket makes it feel like an early game weapon while the hand crank gives it a windup toy or shake flashlight feel.

Using mechanically powered equipment with hand cranks, linear induction, or flywheels for powering equipment in the wasteland is brilliant since electricity is hard to come by for most parts of the wasteland. So a hand crank laser musket makes for a better weapon to wastelanders that are 10 miles away from civilization since there is no way to run out of bullets or batteries.

Overpowered in New Vegas? What?! They did 7 damage, you couldn't even kill a bird!
