Calindil

Some NPC said to me something about Calindil being an enchanter. Is he? Like can he enchant items and make custom spells for us? I just went on UESP and it was kinda vague.

Vanilla game here, btw.

Mystic Emporium guy? No, he just sells soul gems and a few spells, but some of the spell effects he has are useful.

I think if you listen to those rumors closely, they never say that he is an enchanter. They just say that he sells goods useful for enchanting - meaning soul gems.

Uncle's right (of course). *sigh* It is too bad, is it not? I mean my friend Bobo has plenty of gold from smashin' heads but he's dumb as a mudcrab. The guild of mages just laughs at him. It would certainly be nice if he could pay someone to make him a custom fightin' tool.

Well, if one is on PC they can always pretend that Calindil enchants... open console, showenchantment, while you're in his shop, or something. :celebrate:

Oh, you do that too? I generally prefer the console over mods when it will do the job. For example, via the console, my character can purchase exotic black market items (like the odd sigil stone or a few Hatred's Soul arrows) from her black market supplier (Ungarion in Bravil). Of course it costs her a huge pile of gold (also via console). In fact she has to pay exhorbitant property taxes (via console) as well. Heck, she even brings her horse into town (via console). We run mods also, but primarily for things the console cannot easily do.

I'm similar... I really only use the console to move my horse around, though, get un-stuck, or give my character access to things I rightly think they ought to have (like Dark Seducer armor, after assuming Syl's seat in Dementia). Or clean up my spellbook, but I finally got around to installing Wrye Bash to take care of that. Much simpler. My game is pretty much vanilla, aside from some graphical stuff and the unofficial patches.

Good morning Renee!

Indeed. Mmm... Coffee.

I agree that there should be a way to enchant, even if your character is not magically inclined. I guess there is with Sigil Stones, but there are non-magically inclined characters that might not do the main quest.

There are mods to add enchanting capabilities to other places, like the Anvil house.

But it would also be nice to have a few enchanters, maybe much more expensive than do it yourself enchanting.

I try not to use the console at all if I can help it. I also run very few mods. The only mods I use are Saddlebags (Which I've modified so weight affects in different ways), Stablemaster (My own stable in Anvil and also allows me to tie my horse up when I ride into town) and a few graphical mods.

I don't use the console for enchanting or anything mainly for the fact of I like to do it myself at the Mages Guild or I will pay a visit to Frostcraig Spire and use an altar there. Prehaps enchanting stuff at Frostcraig Spire would be an idea for non-magic users. I do however agree that there does need to be one or two vendor enchanters around.

Cliffworms made a handy little http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=24859. It just adds a conversational topic to mages at the guild halls that triggers access to the enchanting and spellmaking menus. There's one each at each hall - an enchanter and a spellmaker. It can be set up either so that only guild members get access or so that anyone gets access, but the only sort of problem with it is that there was no way to change the prices to charge non-guild members more (which would've been the better way to do it). I use it with a couple of my characters, like Hale, who aren't magically inclined.
