Minimum pc specs on amazon.uk - maybe a mistake

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 11:37 pm

Supported OS: Windows 7 Windows 8
Processor: Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86GHz
RAM: 4 GB
Hard Disk: 24 GB
Video Card: GeForce GT 240
Additional Requirements: DirectX 11

Someone on the steam forum pointed it out. Can't post a link because I don't post enough.
The posted specs are incredibly low, so maybe a mistake?

I would ignore it, amazon is infamous for pulling info about none released games out of there rear.

Except for the video card, those specs seem possible. They are low but the game uses the old engine and previous games also had quite reasonable requirements.

That said, I'd wait for official statement.

Frankly, I don't believe they're accurate, but I just wanted to throw it out there. But yeah, gt 240? I don't think so.

If that information is genuine, I'd guess it is minimum spec (just enough to run the game) rather than recommended (enough to run the game decently.

However, I wouldn't base any purchasing (or not purchasing) decisions on that, especially as we know the game was developed with an eye to the capabilities of current gen consoles (with their 8GB of memory) as well as current mid and low-end PCs. Those specs look more like specs for games built to run on last-gen consoles.

Even Skyrim had a recommended CPU spec of quad-core

I'll wait for it to show up on system requirements lab. I have an i7 and 8mb of ram, my only concern is the video card. my aging radeon HD 6800 may need updating.

I doubt that processor would be able to run Fallout 4. I believe it have issues running Skyrim since that processor does not meet the minimum for Skyrim. You likely need to overclock the CPU.

I wouldn't. System Requirements lab is just as bad. I've had it tell me I can't even run games on minimum when I've been playing them with most options maxed out.

I believe they said the specs aren't coming out until like 3-5 weeks before release. So, yeah.

they get pretty close. seem to get confused on processors though. but this kind of stuff is the one thing I miss about game demos. never put much value in them for demonstrating gameplay, but was a nice way to see if your PC could run it.

The game runs on the same engine as Skyrim. Expect the prerequisite to be roughly the same as Skyrim :

Skyrim minimum requirements are :

Dual core 2 Ghz

2 G ram

Direct X 9 with 512 M video ram

6 G hard drive space.

Now, the thing is, the game is 24 G hard drive space, not 6, so expect more. My guess is this :

3 Ghz processor

4 G ram

Direct X 11 with 1G video ram

It's a modified version, while it won't be a huge difference there will be a difference.

While the game runs on an enhanced and extended version of the same engine as Skyrim, a huge amount depends on what data the developers shove through that engine and how they've enhanced it.

They've already acknowledged that they're taking advantage of the new consoles' much more generous memory by having for fewer separate areas requiring a loading screen as you move into them. There's no particular reason to suppose they're not also taking advantage of their more powerful processors to have larger numbers of NPCs and creatures. As for graphics, we don't know how much of a load this new physically based rendering will impose, but it's reasonable to suppose it may well need more graphics power than Skyrim.

So it's risky assuming that it'll need basically similar specs to Skyrim.

Yeah, it sounds like it is the absolute minimum system requirements instead of the minimum system requirements where the game is tolerable.

I wouldn't say that. The U tube previews sure looks like an optimized kind of graphic. Fallout 4 requirements ain't gonna be that high I think.

I'm expecting it to be a good bit higher than Skyrim, but not up to the level of, say, Witcher 3. The graphics engine definitely looks improved, and since the consoles can now have much more memory, I expect the overall worldspace to load more at once. (either more cells in a radius around the characer, or more stuff within each cell.)

Bethesda has been using the same engine for thirteen years, not seven years. The Creation engine is an updated version of the Gamebryo engine and the Gamebryo engine is an updated version of the Netimmerse engine.

well there are a lot of post that speak about the reason of why they dont use a different engine and the main reason is this one is really friendly for Modders, and we should be glad and is mod is one of the main reasons ES or Fallout game become great for many.

I'm not complaining. I adore the engine. I hope they continue to use it for many years and many games to come. :)

Exactly. Which is why it's kind of silly for people to be going "I ran X just fine, so F4 will have the same requirements because it is on the same engine."

ALL Bethesda games from Morrowind on have been on this "same engine", but you wouldn't say Oblivion and Skyrim and Fallout 3 all had the same requirements to run.

I'm particularly interested to know what kind of improvements to the engine have been made with the benefit of Bethesda's access to id employees. We know they helped with the FPS mechanics.
