Just some ideas for power armor.

I made a post somewhat like this one a while ago, but whatever I didn't talk about all my ideas in that one and everyone probably forgot anyway. So whatever:

Make it actually powered: It would be pretty cool and actually interesting if it ran on power cells or microfusion cells like the lore said it did, and depending on the upgrades or type of fuel source you put in like fission batteries or something it could last longer and work harder.

Immunity to small arms and basic melee weapons: They have durability on it now so it won't be that OP, but it would be cool if it had the strength of power armor in the first 2 games, where practically any non-energy weapon or mutated beast like deathclaw's and such couldn't even deal damage to you. I also really thought it stupid that you could get plinked to death with raider pistols and baseball bats when they act like in the lore they could take over entire armed chinese towns solo with the basic t-45 armor.

Fear factor: I always thought it funny that poorly armed and cowardly raiders and such would laugh at the challenge of facing a giant man in Power armor with miniguns, missle launchers, and fat mans. I think they should, ya know, run away from the monster in a mobile tank. I guess you could potentially argue that their so hopped up on drugs that it makes it hard for them to really grasp the situation, but they still run away when you start beating them in combat anyway.

Mods: Obviously this is confirmed to be in the game so yeah. But still one of my things.

Overall badassness: I always never really felt that powerful with it in FO3, it just felt like glorified combat armor, especially when basic super mutants and raiders could still easily kill me for some reason. They made it a little better in NV but still, I wish it still had a lot more awesomeness to it.

These are just my ideas, what do you guys think about it yourselves?

IMO small fire arms such as the 32 caliber should only deal damage to you if they hit weak spots.

Great ideas, I hope they are all implemented!

In the E3 video the animation for opening the suit shows the protag putting in what looks like some sort of power cell.

Also in the E3 video, you see a guy tank through a missile to the chest while wearing power armor, so I would not be surprised if small arms do very little damage. It also looked like some pieces of the armor flew off after the attack, so maybe the layered system allows for you to wear away at the outer armor before being able to damage the person inside. It could easily have also been parts of the projectile flying off the target or just nearby clutter flying away in the video though.

As for the fear factor, I really hope that is in, but I kinda doubt it. When I saw the 10 charisma perk I was a bit disappointed to see that this is probably not going to be park of the base AI aside from actually have this perk. Maybe they found it would be too frustrating to use power armor if the enemies all ran away from you?

Those pipe rifles the Concord raiders were using just pinged off the power armour like nothing. And further in the video it seemed the only thing to make even a dent in the durability meter was a swing from the deathclaw.

Combine that with the extremely heavy and stompy sounds and animations and I think the PA is going to make us feel like a walking tank.

It really wouldn't be that annoying, because the enemies that would be running away from you would be low level raiders and junkies and maybe even some ghouls or small creatures like mole rats, and if you're in power armor then by that point the crap they have on them probably wouldn't be worth the effort and ammunition to shoot them anyway.

But if they did have stuff you wanted or you had a burning desire to shoot them anyway, they still can't outrun a bullet right? ( 汀掳 蜏蕱 汀掳)

Can't wait to use the power armor (and this coming from a light armor kind of Khajiit)! One question though: in lore does it say what one would do if they were in power armor and some body snuck up on you and placed a mine or something on you?

I'm not sure about lore, but I do know that the guy in the E3 trailer barely flinched when hit with a missile launcher to the chest. It might depend on the type of power-armor and the type of mine.

Both very good points, especially the later :D

PA should be immune to small arms fire...there shouldn't be a fuel system except for the early t45 according to lore newer power armor could work for hundreds of years without a refueling....BETHESDA DONT YOU EFF UP MY POWER ARMOR
