Would you like to see some bushcraftsurvival elements?

Frostfall is an excellent example of a survival mod that adds a lot of credibility to the world while also making the survival element intuitive, subtle and entertaining. Most survival mods I could go without, but I cannot play Skyrim without Frostfall.

I'm up for this notion for sure! I like keeping my character busy.

While playing you catch an incurable disease and no one will carry a conversation with you now all there is left to do is restart a new character sorry better luck next time.

I'm really torn on these kinds of questions. Yeah, theoretically I'm all for it, whether modded or right there (optionally) at launch, I know there's a fandom out there, but I'll never use it. I set my own "hardcoe" rules and follow them, though I call it simply roleplaying. I neither need nor want the game to "make" me follow these rules, as I find it far more immersive doing that myself, they'll feel natural because I've decided they are. I don't need an achievement for it, and it's not something I'm going to brag about on forums, or even point out (well, beyond "How do you RP?" type threads anyway).

I voted "Don't know".

I'd be down for giving us the ability to set up makeshift camps, and purify food/water, and have all of that be useful - but I don't want to be forced into micromanaging all of that.

I'd like an upgraded and expanded system od the hardcoe mode of FONV, but unless its balance properly it can reduce the enjoyment of the game.

I don't think there will be any hardcoe crafting or bush crafting that you're talking about. Unless there's a hardcoe mode or just part of the most difficult setting. Those games you're talking about are survival sim's not fantasy RPG's. This is a fantasy RPG. Not a survival simulator.

This is also a period in gaming history when we're seeing a lot of blending of genres. First-person shooters are adopting roleplaying mechanics, roleplaying games are adopting first-person shooter mechanics. In fact Fallout 3 and New Vegas themselves are not "pure" roleplaying games: they are hybrids of first-person shooters and roleplaying games. I'd say the age of "pure" game genres servicing niche markets has been disappearing for some time now in AAA titles.

But even if we accept your definition of "survival simulator" (which I don't; I think Ethetan's ideas qualify as roleplaying features) I don't see why a Fallout game couldn't incorporate "survival simulator" elements.

Everything you said is true and valid and I agree with you. Every game builds its base on simulators. However, I just dont think Fallout 4 will have hardcoe bush crafting in anything except maybe the hardest difficulty or a "hardcoe mode"

So to re-cap, i'm not saying F4 wont have it at all. Im saying it will be a feature or added difficulty of the hardest difficulty level or hardcoe mode. It will not be in any normal game setting.

Sorry, but you are mistaken. Fallout 3 and New Vegas are pure role-playing games. The objective is to play a role successfully. You play a role regardless of whether you are shooting in first person or rationing food and water.

This is not the "state your personal interpretation of a roleplaying game as if it were a universally-accepted definition" thread.

Please stay on topic.
