The Team Bringing Fallout 4 to Life

Most of us want some semblance of continuity with the overall narrative. I'd be kind of disappointed if they tried to pull that "sequel is actually a prequel" crap. Besides, they even stated they drew inspiration from FO1 when deciding the art direction and color palettes.

And see, I never understood those arguments. D1/2 looked like they did partially because of the low resolutions and limited color palettes they had. I thought D3 looked completely like a Diablo game, and in the same theme/style/etc of the previous ones. It's plenty "dark", with shadows/blood/guts/despair everywhere. Just rendered with a lot more pixels and shading.

edit: and yes, I played both of the previous games, when they came out. Of all the problems D3 had (auction, messed up loot, infinite-respec-everything/no talent trees, rush-to-endgame, etc), the art style wasn't one of them.

^ I agree with this. I don't like seeing arguments like "FO4 is gonna be eh because (FO1/FO2 stuff). The argument is based entirely off of the rose-colored nostalgia glasses they're wearing. It's not a remake and never will be, so if you want Fallout 1, go play Fallout 1.

Go to YouTube and search for the Bethesda Softworks channel. They've got all the Fallout4 media releases there, and part 2 of the new video works. At least, that's what worked for me.
Superman's dad is Jor-El. Kal-El is Superman himself.

OMG SUPERMAN IS WORKING ON FALLOUT 4!!!!!!

I don't like Superman, okay? :P.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.

P.S. Red Son was awesome, but other than that I don't like Superman.

Dope interview, even it was rehearsed, being that the interviewer also works for Bethesda. In any event, I'm sure Fallout 4 will surpass MGS V in terms of overall satisfaction and actually living up to the hype.

Too late, you already are, lol

You're not alone. I'm in the same boat, except I'll be getting a PS4 for this sometime after the holidays unfortunately.

Of course, all their Youtube videos are locked behind content warnings/age gates (which requires a Google account to get past :ermm: )

Yeah, that's kind of annoying. I eventually went and created a Gmail account that I use for nothing except bypassing the YouTube age gate.

Some great concept art there, really like seeing that stuff. I draw myself, and like to see the techniques others use.

It's time to bring this thread to the top of fallout 4, a bethesda developer played over 400 hours and said there's many things they did not see. I think this is unique though to test a game to see its fixes.

Have you played any Fallout game besides FO1? Because as someone else pointed out, they moved past the Post-Apocalyptic setting to one of recovery and new settlements starting with FO2. And New Vegas was VERY much about a recovered society with new problems separate from the post-apocalypse.

Nothing wrong with wanting a more post-apocalyptic setting, but don't go throwing mud at Bethesda for continuing something the original developers started in FO2 and continued in New Vegas when they got to work on the franchise again.

On, to a new subject:

I'm interested to hear the difference in line deliveries between the two voice actors for the protagonist, as Emil stated they each approached the same lines in different ways. Like in Mass Effect, I'm probably going to have a favorite gender voice actor based off the line deliveries they each give. For me, FemShep had 100% more emotion and nuance in her line deliveries than MaleShep in those games. I hope Brian hasn't gone the traditional "less emotional" "more stoic" voice route of so many male protagonists.

Yes, I have played all the games (other than the spinoffs). The original FO was developed by Interplay, whereas the sequel was handed over to Black Isle Studios (a subsidiary of the publisher). Some of those BIS bigwigs developed FO:NV at Obsidian (the FO2 influence is obvious). I never enjoyed FO2 because I felt like it went contrary to many of the design principles behind the original game (such as the game's fine balance of darkness and humor, which the sequel tipped towards the latter. FO1 had many moments where I would laugh, then think.). I enjoyed FO:NV, but not as a Fallout game, just as the good RPG that it is.

I was happy with FO3 because it was more clearly influenced by the original game (in terms of setting, as it fell flat as an RPG), and I was hopeful that with FO4 they would follow suit and attempt to perfect it . Apparently, they have taken a very different approach. That's fine, as I can judge the game on its own merits, but I still can't help but feel disappointed.

I hadn't thought of that, but I think it would be a GOOD thing if the actors had very different styles, as it would help counter some of the criticisms the voiced protagonists have received. Two different styles means twice the chance that you can find a voice suitable for a particular build you want to play.

Regardless of companies and subsidiaries, it was still some of the same individuals in all cases making the world building decisions. I'm not 100% happy with FO2 either, mainly for the stupid tribal thing. People reverting to a tribal way of life after 80 years? Sure. People becoming stupid and superstitious? No dice. Living in tents and using wooden spears but somehow constructing a giant stone temple with death traps? WTF?!

I kind of feel Bethesda (Or Interplay or Black Isle or Obsidian) is obligated to improve the society in the Fallout world if they keep advancing the timeline. FO1 took place just 60 years after the bombs dropped. FO2 80 years. FO3 200 years. I'm actually relieved that Bethesda didn't make another big time jump with FO4. I'd personally love to play a Fallout that took place just 20 years after the bombs fell. No one is familiar with the mutated FEV creatures emerging. NPCs all still remember civilization. That raider boss threatening you with a baseball bat? He used to work in an office. But Bethesda has stated they'll never "go back on the timeline", so.... :sadvaultboy:

I take it to mean for numbered games.
At the very least, I would like to see something like Josh Sawyers Resource Wars idea. Removed from really effecting the events of previous games- perhaps even in a different play-style to emphasize that it is a spin off.

...Don't even get me started on the Arroyans.
