Season Pass now available on Steam

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:16 am

The main reason why I will preorder the game on Steam is so that I can play Fallout 4 on November 9 at 10 PM. Steam games seemed to be released at midnight on the East Coast so living on the West Coast means that I can play games the day before they are released.

How is it a bad as Star Citizen controversy? I really, really don't see any similarity.

It's a method to get a freaking discount! Other devs have done this with their games for years. And the season pass isn't going anywhere, you can buy it even after all DLCs are released. It really doesn't matter whether you preorder or buy it much much later.

asking for money for game content that isn t even made and for a game we know nothing about except for a few video who only showed the game mechanics most of us already expected to be in the game , true the settlements was a nice suprise but fallout isn t about bethesda s versuin of minecraft

yes i mentioned star citizen because i had high hopes for that fame but now with all these rumours flying around it was the first thing that vame to my mind

this whole season pass scheme just feel wrong in ethical sense , ilike i daid for me this is just bethesda being greedy

And like I said, the season pass isn't going away. It's not a preorder thingie. Yes, you can preorder but you don't have to. There is the option to wait and buy it much later. You won't lose a thing.

Still not seeing anything wrong with it.

I'll probably pick up the Season Pass when I order FO 4.

The only thing I'd comment on is the confusing naming schemes. To me a 'Season' alludes to a collection over a timeframe (typically a year) that is not exclusive to the full lifetime of a product.
From TV a 'Season' is a set number of episodes aired over a year. Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, etc...

If the pass was truly for all DLC released during the lifetime of FO4 would it not be better to call it a 'Lifetime Pass'

As it stands I wouldn't be surprised if in a years time we got 'Season 2' pass.?????

Ya, it is kinda weird. I always took the term "season" to simply be the lifetime of the game.

I will not buy the Season Pass yet, because Fallout 4 will be my first Fallout game and I am yet to decide whether it is fun to play - for me. And no, I am not going back to any of the previous games, as they seem "old" to me. The same reason I cannot play Morrowind or Oblivion again. Seems I can only play the latest installements...

I bought Witcher 3 used, and was disappointed, so I as a consumer would not preorder CD Project games. BGS on the other hand has a proven track record with me. I love Fallout 3 and still play it 7 years after release. No other game in my limited collection has that kind of staying power with me. I still drop Skyrim in the old Xbox too, and likely will for years to come.

Fallout 4 will probably be the only new game I purchase in 2015, and likely 2016 as well. Preordering the DLC will just extend my playtime with the game. I fully expect to get frustrated by the game in the first few months as I adjust to the new mechanics, but once I adapt and learn the game, a new play through will ensue with a more badass character. The only thing that worries me at all about the game is the shooting, I am not a good twitch reflex gamer, so I avoid CoD/HALO games like the plague. Hopefully VATS will still give me the edge I need to get through it, and the mechanics are such that even an old fart like me can enjoy it.

And to the point about not preordering games, I would never think to tell a Witcher fan NOT to preorder the next installment of that game, or any game by that developer. Its his money and his time, he (or she) can do as they please and it will have zero effect on me.

Well, you don't decide what DLC is worth, Beth does. They set the price, and they have informed you that there will be DLC coming out and the price will be set to $40. If you buy it now, they offer it to you for $30. The more pre-orders they get, the higher the budget for the DLC development, i.e. it is in our (the fans) interest that Beth get as many pre-orders as possible. If you intend on buying the DLC anyway, you may as well do it now so Beth has a higher budget to work with, which means that we will get more DLC. That's fairly standard business practice. People even pre-order cars when new models are announced. You strike me as someone who has a good idea about what to expect from Beth, so I don't really get why you feel so strongly about pre-ordering

The main reasons I want to pre-order the Season Pass:

  • I would probably buy it anyway
  • DLC dependent mods
  • Ten dollar discount is nice

Well of course the customer does if it is not worth ,it I don't buy it..And if ,in theory,a game devolper would release a [censored] dlc for $20 and people wouldn't buy it, the price would go down.

That's not how it works....you just give them more money without them actually doing anything.Nor will they make more DLC .On the contrary they won't make more because they have only gotten $30 from you.

Oh, you mean how kickstarter funding works? Funny people seem to love that when it supports an indie company, but get all self righteous when its a AAA developer with a proven record of producing great content.

I would only support it if I have seen some of the game(like actual gameplay and story)....and no I don't think it's that good of idea.Pillars of Eternity, didn't like it all that much despite it sounding liek a great idea.

Considering that you used it in an argument? And that it is basically a way to say that there is no argument?

You know it's probably hard get for you but ...if it's my opinion ,yours is just yours too.

This.

If you want to mod or even use mods, then you had better have all the DLC.

If Bethesda is confident enough to only have six months between announcement and release of Fallout 4, then I'm confident that the DLC will be worth every penny of $30.
