Yet Another DLC Suggestion

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 6:55 am

It occurred to me that a nice DLC would be one that let the player start a new character who was not the Sole Survivor. After finishing the main quest, many players just want to wander and stuff. Why not a DLC that lets them do that from the start? No need for an in-game backstory, just create a character and place him at the entrance of the vault. Then, go do yer thing, playing the character you want to play.

There would be details to work out, of course.

The good news is, this wouldn't have to be a DLC. Alternate start mods are part and parcel for Bethesda games, and they're not so complex to preclude their existence on consoles.

I just want Bethesda Game Studios to sell Expansion Packs for Fallout 4, no DLC's.

So many DLC's are sold for video games today and it just costs so much money that I can't afford to purchase every single DLC's for all of these video games. It's why I hardly purchase so many video games compared to like 5+ years ago when I purchased a lot of video games every year. I mostly purchase indie video games today that come with DLC's included for free in patches, in Expansion Packs, and in Gold Editions and Game of the Year Editions (GOTY).

I hope Bethesda Game Studios sells at least 3 Expansion Packs for Fallout 4.

They did a good job selling 2 Expansion Packs for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Dawnguard and Dragonborn.

Not really much point doing that as other than skipping some story you skip the tutorial. Make a save just before leaving and you've set up the DLC that you want, when you reload and exit should be able to edit the stats and looks like in previous games.

The only DLC Bethesda has ever done for fallout is expansion packs (though I guess Obsidian did do a couple non-expansion DLC).

So just don't buy the stuff you don't want? And I've always seen Fallout DLC's as expansions. What makes it one or the other to you? Most of them are new area, new enemies, new loot, new quests. So what's the difference to you?

Hearthfire was DLC and not a Expansion Pack.

And I got a long list of what I define what is a Expansion Pack, but it's too long of a list to describe.

I stick with the way Expansion Packs were sold for video games back in the 1980's and especially in the 1990's and early 2000's.

Also I said I don't buy DLC's until the Complete Editions or Game of the Year Editions (GotY) are sold. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the only exception with Hearthfire.

My thought was that the main quest would also be altered or deleted.

My main interest here isn't a need for a DLC like this (I pretty much do what you suggest above when I make a new character, and I'm not a roleplayer), it's mainly in seeing what can and cannot be done. I like DLCs that do more than add new areas or quests, but change the experience.

Didn't play skyrim so you're speaking spanish to me lol I saw all of Fallout 3's dlc as expansions except Broken Steel. That didn't feel fleshed out enough to me to be a full dlc. Just "we wanna keep the story going here's some things and a place". But all the others I felt were definite expansions. And as much as they don't really talk about it existing, I'm sure they took notice of New Vegas' dlc which I though was really well done. Call it what you want, I think Fallout dlc is well dont and worth the money. I doubt we'll see a gun runners arsenal or anything of that sort as modders will surely add a bunch of new weapons as it is.
