Binoculars in the game?

In FO3 I carried around a sniper rifle just so I could see far ahead. will there be telescopes or binoculars this time? can I salvage a sniper scope and use it w/out it attached to a gun?

No news on any binoculars, I doubt tho that you could use a detached sniper scope, as gun mods seems to be made and attached on guns directly in the weapon mod bench, so ya wont carry a loose scope in ya pocket to begin with.

New Vegas had binoculars so I can Fallout 4 having them too. Worst case Ontario just carry around a sniper rifle as the person above said.

Ha! I wasn't crazy! I thought I remembered there being binoculars in New Vegas:

The Caravan Pack which you got as a pre-order bonus included a pair of binoculars. They were nice when starting out, but by the time I got a scoped weapon I put them away and never used them again.

Agree, give us basic survival tools such as binoculars, compass, firesteel, water canteen, real map, usable chalk etc.. its the small things which matter.

I think binoculars should be like grenades, kinda like how the Witcher 3 does it. You can chose bombs, a crossbow or a lamp and then switch between them. If I can switch which selected grenade or usable item I have equipped then binoculars will become far more useful since I won't have to change my weapon.

The binoculars were useless in NV, they didn't zoom more than a scope did.

Yep agreed, the binoculars were total rubbish in NV, I can remember feeling very disappointed indeed. In a world like fallout binoculars would be a must for your character to have & not be so reliant on the sniper weapon. Maybe in F4 we can craft our own binoculars like Todd Howard did with that scope at the E3 show. Fingers crossed... legs too if it helps.

Scopes.. I put scopes on everything. A good pair of binoculars would be good for starting out though since we probably won't have instant access to scopes. Of course scopes and binoculars probably won't be as useful as they've been in the past... burrowing radscorpians are going to scare me every time.

Binoculars were useless in New Vegas. You could plainly see any movement from afar from proper vantage points without them.
